A short train and tube ride to Oxford Circus, a stroll down Oxford Street, and into Selfridges, and the fabled 'Wonder Room'.
A cursory inspection of Chopard, Girard Peregaux, Glasshutte, IWC and Jaeger LeCoultre (ignoring Corum, Omega, Panerai, Rolex and several more), and over to the Oris counter.
A total of three hours there and back, and I walk through my front door wearing -
The 42mm rather than the 40mm I was expecting to come away with. Side-by-side, the 40mm looked relatively small, and the 42mm has a cleaner dial. Not to mention a lovely bracelet that I can't stop stroking.
The salesman was also insistent that the 42mm looked better. For my part, I insisted that he honoured the incorrect low price on the sales tag. We both won - I bought the 42mm at the low price.
Lovely, lovely watch. The photo doesn't show it on my monitor, but the inner part of the dial is slightly recessed. The fit and finish is superb.
