    Battery Change In A DW-5600E

    Question from a novice.

The battery is a CR2016, what special tools (other than jewelers screwdrivers, tweezers) would be needed ? I am attempting this for the first time and any tips are welcome.

    Thanks !

Some silicone grease perhaps? To relube the case back o-ring. Maybe something like this http://doitbest.com/Pipe+joint+tape+...sku-450383.dib

You don't need to use too much.

    It's an easy process.

I would just say take your time and be careful with the screws, so as to not cross-thread them in the plastic in the back of the case as you refit the back plate. Put in the screws on diagonal opposites, to ensure the best compression.

Remember not to touch the battery, not from a shock point of view but to keep it as clean as possible and therby make sure the contacts are good.

    Good luck.

Re: Battery Change In A DW-5600E

Have an additional question for forum members.

I took off the back of the DW 5600E and also removed the thin rubber cover.

I cannot figure out how to remove the metal "cover" or small plate that prevents the battery from coming loose. Can anyone provide any advice ?

I am almost there, but don't want to force the cover/small plate off for fear of damaging it. This is my first time replacing the battery.

    Thanks !

Scroll down to Sjors' second post in that thread. To summarize, you stick a toothpick/needle or similar into the gap and gently release the catch. Make sure you have plenty of light so you can see what's going on.

Good luck, and don't force it.
