Question Battery Question Related to Casio G-Shock Dw-5200 (Gold)

I have a Casio G-Shock Dw-5200 (Gold) that needs a new battery. The first link provided below suggests a BR-2320, however, the second link suggests a CR-2320. My local jeweler only has the later in stock (i.e., CR-2320).

Is that safe to use in my vintage (1984) G-Shock?

What battery is currently in the watch (the one you will replace)?

I will not know until I show up at the jewelery store and she opens the watch....it likely has not been changed in at least 15 years+

I got a CR2320 put in my DW-5600C years ago. I guess yours consumes the same

I hope so. Unless I hear otherwise, I'll be trying that out tonight. Fingers cross she fires up and works like she did 15 years ago!

Then she'll hit the sales forum ;)

Both BR2320 and CR2320 batteries should work.

Both are the same size (23mm diameter, 2.0mm thick) and voltage (3.0 volts).

The BR2320 is generally rated at 175 mAh while the CR2320 is generally rated at 120 mAh. This means that the CR2320 will work, but not as long as the BR2320.

Is there a chance - and if so, how great - that the battery broke open and leaked at some point in the past 15 years?
