    Best G-Shock under $100?

I'm looking for the best combination of features in a G-Shock for under $100 US.

The watch will see use in hiking and as a daily beater.

I'm open to buying used watches (in good condition), which may put some better quality G-Shocks in my price range.

    Thanks,
    Packleader

A similar thread was started a few weeks ago - I'll see if I can find it. My suggestion was: G-7710-1 or any other G-77XX. Very good features, loud alarm, adjustable contrast on the display, not too big and bulky. The G-7710s are among my favourite models:

GW6900 for solar/atimic or Mudman G9000 for more advanced features and display. Both can be found under $100.

MTG-900. Steel bracelet (can wear with button down shirts), largest of digits, solar and atomic.

GWM5600 although I notice the price has been increasing on the bay so maybe the GW5600J as an alternative,

Easily the G-7900 IMO. Time in almost all modes (except moon phase/tide graph mode), 24 hours CDT & stopwatch, big enough for big watch fans but comfortable enough for people with small wrists.

Have to agree with the above post...the 7900 or a 9000 muddie. Both have the same module (exception of moon phase/tide graph on the Muddie) which is one of the best. Both are very comfortable and rugged watches to be used as a beater. The G7900 has a very crisp display with bold digits. Another good option, and I've recently seen prices falling on them (picked one up in Like New condition on the Bay for around $50) is the GDF100. It has a very legible display (both positive and negative versions) with large, bold digits, and also comes packed with a thermometer, altimeter, and barometer. It's a larger watch, but light weight and very comfrotable.

I agree, you can't go wrong with a GDF-100. But since you're open to buying used, I'd take a look at the Protrek line. You can get some pretty decent discounts on buying a used one, and all you need to do is a thorough washing and deodorizing to ensure it's completely free of bio traces. 90% of my G-Shock collection was bought used, and I've saved close to 60-70%.
