Neither one is best, they are basically the same, buy the one you like the most.
I'd say go for the GA-835 looks really beautiful and simple also the hands are more reliable and the face is more stealth looking .
Personally, I'd go for the 835A because it's a little easier to read. But, as others have said, these watches are designed to be utilitarian -- so it really is about which better serves your needs.

You can't go wrong with any of the watches, both would serve you well.
Really liking the GA-835. Lean and simple: Clean and legible. Big, lumed hands, sweep second, big lcd display.
It's got me questioning my current obsession with Seiko Divers. Sure, they glow like the sun, but analog and tough? Gotta be a G!
