The Gulfman (finest G-Shock on the planet) moves into second place.

I voted for the Gulfman. Aesthetically, it's light years ahead of the other two.

    Re: The Big Three

    Well...

The GW-9100 "Gulfman" isn't actually a Gulfman. It's a solar atomic G inside a Gulfman's body. It gives you neither tide nor moon graph (big from me to not include the functions that were the cause of the originals name). It also has an inferior CDT (60 mins) compared to the other two here. It does have the biggest STW at 1000 hrs, but current time is displayed in neither mode. It either displays the day, or the date (month/date...no year) not both. At least it does have a strap attachment system that allows you to install the adapters to use Zulu or hybrid straps. edit: At least it does have a beautiful display that shows it's shortcomings nicely .

The GW-9010 is actually Mud Resistant, so at least they got that right. And, it has a ton of timers (see here for translated specs). But the display layout, and intuitiveness of the functions leaves a lot to be desired. So far, I really find it hideous. But I can at least blame the promotional shots on some of that, as I thought the GW-9200 Riseman was also lacking in the looks department until I saw 'real' photos of one. This Mudman has a 24hr STW and CDT, just like the GW-9200 Riseman. It does also have the "Rally Mode" which can give you a 100hr STW, but still only a 24hr CDT. I'd be willing to bet that the current time will not be displayed in any of the timer modes (certainly not in the Rally Mode), as the display just doesn't seem able to support this. The Rally Mode display seems very confusing though (see here). It does display the day and date, but no year. edit: The strap attachment system will allow the use of some unique adapters from Suunto after an easy modification, so Zulu's/hybrids can be used if you're willing to order more expensive parts than needed for the other two (hey...at least it's possible ).

The GW-9200 Riseman is the winner among these three. It does have the same functionality that inspired the original's name (the alitmeter/barometer/thermometer). It has great functionality with the 24hr STW/CDT, and showing the current time in those modes (trumps the others...even with bigger capacity). The display is actually laid out very nicely. The desingers did a good job of utilizing all the space, even with the 'eye'. Day/date/year is displayed in timekeeping mode (trumps the others). The strap attachment system, like the Gulfman (they're identical) allows the use of adapters to wear Zulus/hybrids.

I guess you know which I voted for . edit: Just note, I did also at one time own the atomic/solar Gulfman, so I have personal experience with that one.

Topher, the year display seems to be a big issue for you. Do you wake up a lot wondering what year it is? I can only say my 7710s have the year display and I find it a waste. Each to his own I guess.

Not a big deal, but if it could be shown but isn't...that equals a for me. A "date" display should actually include the year...just to be thorough . The most important is really the display of both the day and date. Full date display is preferred, but not necessary .
