Question Black Range-man to Olive Range-man, What parts do I need?

I have a Black Range-man with a positive display. I want an Olive Range-man with a positive display (I don't want a negative display). So, in addition to a Back Range-man, what other parts do I need to order?

I’d be interested in knowing too as I just assumed I’d need a +ve module so if any other parts are needed it’d be handy.

There are two ways to do this.

    1) Buy an olive negative display Rangeman (GW-9400-3) and swap the modules. Doing it this way keeps the golden eye on the olive watch. There is a thread that explains how to do this.

    2) Buy an olive strap and bezel to put on your black Rangeman. Doing it this way you end up with a red eye on the olive watch. This is what I did on the watch I gave to my nephew, because I didn't want to buy two watches to do the "proper" swap. It looks as shown in the pic.

(Edit - you also have to move the metal studs from the black bezel to the olive bezel, or buy four extra metal studs.)

I guess option 2 is the cheaper option?

I've also seen a couple of members who've blacked out the yellow lettering on the green resin and even painted the triangle next to the baro button red. It really ties the whole thing together quite well, since red on olive green looks cool anyway and then it matches the eye and crystal lettering.

I did option 2, easy peasy. Found a band and bezel, like new on ebay for $35. Not sure what prices available now, but check or set up a notification on ebay. One WILL come up. Be patient if necessary, one will come up, maybe try a japan auction.

None. I did this swap a few years ago, below is the thread link you need to make a proper positive Green Rangeman:

What you are considering is really a band and bezel swap as opposed to a module swap which requires 2 watches

What you propose will get you this:
Positive green with red eye with RED Rangeman

This is essentially just a black Rangeman with green clothes

To get a positive green with gold eye and yellow "Rangeman" requires a green watch to get the gold eye with yellow "Rangeman" and a black Rangeman to get a positive screen module. The eye is integral to the case. You need to get a green case.

Initially I did only the band and bezel swap which was OK until I was encouraged by seeing another member do the module swap and teach us what issues to be careful of when opening a Rangeman and removing the module.

This thread contains crucial information about what to do to safely swap Rangeman modules. Read from post #42 onward:

*** be careful opening up this watch. The safest mod is just switching bands and bezels.

If you decide to open up this watch and switch modules with another Rangeman, there is a ribbon piece that disconnects (unplugs), when that ribbon piece is disconnected your watch module is going read "open". Putting it back You are going need little tweezers to put the sensor ribbon piece back.

Honestly I think that is the perfect amount of red. Looks great and eliminates the issue of not matching, plus it's a fairly no-nonsense solution that fits the watch well
