    Bought my first G-Shock..woo

In my 40 years, I've never noticed how exciting the range of casio g-shock watches are as I'm not really into digital watch. Whenever I pass by a casio watch counter/store, I hardly bother about it.

Having owned some timepieces from rolex to omega, couple of seiko(s), luminox etc, digital watches are the last thing on my mind.

But recently I've beginning to look for tough watches that can withstand rough use, is water resistant to 200m and can withstand shock/vibration and the most important criteria is that it won't cost a bomb.

After much reading n searching on the internet, and thanks to the great contributors on this forum, today I finally bought a casio DW-5600, although it ain't expensive, I'm very happy with it. No order watches has ever make me feel so excited, its really value for money. I mean, if all is well for this watch, it may even outlive me :)

But one question is, are the 5600 today as tough as those vintage 5600? Can anyone from this great forum post any pics of their beat up 5600, the worst it looks the better :)

    Until then..

    Thanks!

    congrats on the DW5600E :gold

i don't think the DW5600E (4 screws back) is tougher than DW5600C (screwdown back)

but the DW5600C does *feel* solid and well (dare i say better? :-D ) built because of the heavy full SS case and screwdown caseback

and not to mention the history of DW5600C (the G that hit it off for G-Shocks)

    Hi Xenon,

First of all congrats on your first G-Shock and welcome to our G-Shock Forum. I have a beatr up DW-5600C:

And here is an old DW-5200, that I got from a fellow WUS member:

I have put a new bezel and bands on it, but it looked great abused too!

Price varies as those models are becoming hard to find.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think a fellow forum member is selling one on the WUS sales forum. From what i remember it was significantly "pricier" than the DW-5600E you just got your hands on - oh, and congrats, too! Spectacular find. Like you, I had been loyal to automatics/handwound watches, particularly diver's and vintage ones, but the digital bug bit me, read that: the G bug bit me!! Since then, I have been on that never-ending quest for that "right" G-shock, but it just so happens that the right "one" is actually several G's!!! Welcome to the forum and good luck in your search!
