    Buying watches from eBay

I am wanting to purchase a G-Shock and have been looking on eBay. I am wondering if there is any advice to avoid getting a fake, and maximise getting an authentic?

    Thanks.

    Re: Buying watches from eBay

Hello, I have bought several Casio waveceptor watches from ebay, from private and trade sellers, as well as many other articles. Just ensure the seller has good feedback with a good transaction history. If you are new to ebay it is best to just observe the bidding trend in 'my ebay' on several items you are interested in as whatever you are after there will always be plenty more opportunities.

    Hi Kuri -

    Very nice to meet you

    What country are you from:-S

The best way is to ask the forum if the watch you like is a fake and you will get an honest yes or no

Thanks sonny. It is nice knowing people have purchased G-Shock watches safely from eBay as I have come to suspect the worse. I was figuring if a seller has a great deal sales with positive feedback, then it should be safe. Yet, then I have in the past purchased fake Sony memory from a seller who had high feedback. Often people just don't seem to know the difference, but I guess high positive feedback is the best one can do.

I just updated my profile, but the same country as you only further south.

I am pretty new to watches in general. Never thought twice before now and always had just a cheapo plastic watch. And then I thought I am an adult and need more bling, so I started looking at G-Shocks that have both digital and analog as I found them quite cool. And here I am...

A particular watch I like is the GW1210A-1AV. I like the metalic look and this one seems to have some nice features such as solar and radio receiver. It seems quite expensive though, and I have seen it on eBay for US$150.

A less expensive watch I wish came with the GW1210A-1AV features is the G540D-9AV. Downside is it has lesser features. The upside is it is much cheaper, and while I am not usually a gold fan, I love the gold and silver metalic look.

I think I will go with the latter, but before I go and buy one, I am wondering whether you guys might have other recommendations similar to what I have been looking at?

    Hey hey.. G'day digger

Wish I was in Brizzy nowB-)

It's getting very warm and humid in Cairns

Surfers Paradise is like my second home and boy would I love to jump in the waves now on the Gold Coast:-D

We are coming up to stinger season here which means plenty of Box Jellyfish to keep the crocs company

Looks like the swimming pool for me:-D

Anyway, stay away from the regular jewellery stores in Oz, besides having the basic Thai models, they are VERY expensive, sometimes three to what same is on EBay..

Good to see you on board

Yeah, I've been to Cairns and the humidity is lots of fun in Summer

Anyway, I decided upon and bought this watch. Seller has sold a bit and 100% positive feedback so that should hopefully guarantee me an authentic watch. B-)

    Thanks everyone who responded.

    :thanks

The ad that you linked for the GW1210A-1AV boasts that the stopwatch has 24-hr measuring capacity. However, according to Casio's website, this model has module 3347. The manual for this module says the stopwatch only has 99-minute measuring capacity.

Just a heads-up. I think the ad is incorrect.
