Can you help with this one please?

    Hi Folks,

I just purchased this G-Shock watch on eBay and wonder if someone could give me any info about it. Is it an Army Issue piece as the seller mentioned this in the auction. I'm not fussed if not as it is a really cool item with an unusual colour!

It is a 1627 module and has a DW-9000 serial number. Also one of the modes has the word "surfing" on the screen. Any ideas what this is as it does not mention anything on the instruction manual i downloaded from the Casio website.

    Thanks,
    Lee

It's not army issue it's from the G-Lide series of G-Shocks aimed at surfers. Jelly style resin and strap and fairly common although a few years old. Lots have been seen on the forum and quite often used for dye jobs as the clearish jelly is very susceptible to dying.

The 'surfing' text is for the surf timer although I'm not quite sure what it does.
    Expect to pay around £20.

Here are my two that started as the same colour as yours.

Yes I realise that but I meant that I don't know what it does specifically that a stopwatch doesn't.

You got what the German's coined 'WILD WAVE' DW-9000S-7V. Very nice 9000, IMO the nicest of the surfing 9000's. Best name is 'SUNMAN' though!

    Hi Bubbazenetti,

    Welcome to the forum.

Usually military issued watches have special symbols and/or numbers on the caseback, as for example in the black resin DW9000s issued to French Navy combat divers.

I haven't heard of any jelly military issued G-Shock yet. Military everywhere in the world usually go for black or dark colors.

Nevertheless you got a nice vintage G-Shock G-Lide there. Congrats!

are those the same endpieces/strap adapters that the DW-5600-CL use
