Casio 2924 Gw 5600J thoughts on this square

Found one for sale locally and I can't find much about it. A few for sale on ebay listed as rare. Is it rare and around how old are they. Whats the difference between it and the current one I see on amazon other than the color. Thanks

Look at the manual online, search for Casio 2924 manual. Display only shows date, no day/date option :( Also, the strap at the 12 o'clock position is special and only fits that watch. It was one of the furst generation squares and I think the case is slightly funky to accommodate the receiving antenna. I had one and find the current line-up much better as the 5600J has those previously mentioned faults plus only receives in Japan and the US.

Not rare, one of the few I will Never buy as it cannot display the date on the same screen as the day.

    Get a regular 5600, not the J

IMHO, GW-5600J is the older version of GW-5000. They look the same. GW-5600J has bigger digit but you have to toggle the date in order to be shown. It only sync in the US and Japan (2 Band only). Cheaper band and bezel and they are still available at Pacparts. Attached is the video of GW-5000. Sometimes they show GW-5600J too. I just don't know if they mistakenly identified it as the same watch with the GW-5000.

The GW5600 was introduced in 2005 and was around for several years before being discontinued. It has a slightly rounded look compared to other squares, only the DW56RTB has the same shape. Some people like that look, some don't. One downside is if you ever need a replacement bezel, none of the other square bezels will fit, although as someone else mentioned there are a couple on pacparts which I was surprised to see. It's one of, if not the earliest atomic square, basically a multiband 2, receiving a signal from US and Japan only. It doesn't show day, date, month at the same time. It can either display the day, or the date/month.
EB listings with "rare" in the description are a dime a dozen. None of us know how many of any G model were made unless it's a numbered edition. Yes, the gw5600 might be harder to source than a non-discontinued model, but they're around.

In addition, the GW-5600J is the only G-Shock that I know which has G on the buckle.

I have owned both and preferred the 5600 myself. Not particularly rare, though. Either model.
