    Casio DW-8700 issues

So my girlfriend is in Japan and knowing I like watches called me to ask if I wanted a watch that she had found at some store for just 1500yen ($13), it was the the DW-8700.She sent me some pics and I said yeah go for it.

Anyway since then shes had a bit of a nightmare. Cause its second hand she says she was cleaning the strap and then all of a sudden part of the bezel broke off. Obviously cause of its age itís deteriorated.

Iíve looked around but theres no replacement bezels anywhere for tnis model. So do any of you guys think theres any way I could repair the original bezel. I know it would be a crude fix but how about gluing the piece back in place?

Some pictures. First as it was when she found it, how it is with the broken piece missing and lastly with the broken piece put back in place.

    Would appreciate some advice.

You'll find it nearly impossible to get a bezel for it unfortunately. You can glue it, but some old 1990's G's like this were prone to what came to be known as resin rot, basically the make up of the resin meant it degraded over time and became brittle and just fell apart!

I think even if you manage glue the split/broken section, there's a risk that any sort of impact or pressure to the bezel could either break the glued section again or make the rest of it fall to pieces.

Yeah, as posted above. It's old and disintegrating. I have a couple like that. The resin has lost those components that kept it "resin". Now it's an "isotope" and breaking down. I wish some one would do a decent re-pop of these old babies.
Thank you, I'm flattered, but, please don't click any "Likes" for me (unless there's a prize for "most likes")?

Thanks for the replies guys, its kinda irrelevant now though.

I woke up this morning to a load of messages from my girlfriend saying she had taken it back to the store and exchanged it for G-2000 thats in much much better condition.

Will be looking to get a DW-8700 at some point though.

G-2000 is a better watch overall. Nice solid screw back!

I like the two watches about the same but the fact the G-2000 is a solid stainless steel screw back just edges it.

One last question though.. Itís used and although its in good condition its dirty. How do I go about cleaning it without using water cause I donít know how good its seal will be?

    Heres the watch..

Have you got the tool for removing the screwback? As long as the gasket is in good condition and not pinched or broken then pop the screwback back on and tighten her up, she'll be fine to use water on to clean!

I happen to be wearing mine today:

Yep I’ve got all the tools for the job. Not sure if shes gonna send it or bring it back with her yet so could be here in 2 weeks or just over a month. Once it is here and cleaned up though I’ll post some pics.

Btw sodamonkey your G-2000 is really nice, looks great in those colours.
