Some yaers ago the 2900 would be one of the average sized Gs.
But in the lineup today its on the small side (but still larger then the classic 5600 or the G-7700).
The digits are on the large side, which is a plus for many users.

For me the size is OK.

I also own a velcro band version.
That one is looking beefier then the standard resin strap version (sitting higher on the wrist, strap more massive).

Size is in the wrist of the beholder.

At what point in time did what people say make it right ? When did a trend ever become correct ? More to the point why do massive watches on small wrists look right and not wrong ?

Huge watches are a current fashion trend and in my opinion on some people they just look hideous. Your wrist size says what looks good as does your own like or dislike . The GW 56 is massive and I for one think its size is just plain ridiculous but some people love it . Its the world we live in

In the seventies flared jeans and huge wing like shirt collars with massive neck ties were all the rage and everyone followed .. people that dress that way now are most likely to be locked up.

Where does this massive watch trend end ? When you need to strap it to you leg instead of your wrist

The size of the G2900 is just fine and will remains so for a long time

It's fine. Most G-Shocks are too big (IMO, of course).

    And spot on too.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Yes, I notice this trend of larger and larger watches - checkout those cheap monster size watches at Walmart. Clearly "Flavor Flav" was ahead of his time.

Re: G2900: I like the size, not much bigger than the 5600 and comparable to the GW810 series. The only thing I'm not sure about is the shiny metallic looking ring around the crystal. It catches sunlight and its hard to see the writing on the ring.

Has anyone modified this ring? I contemplated trying to change it to a "brush" finish but then stopped because on closer examination the ring seems to be plastic and not metal.

If anyone has modified this shiny ring on their G2900, then please post pics of results.

Do you like it? That's all that matters really.

Personally I find the trend for large watches baffling. I have a friend who has just purchased a huge TW Steel watch and it looks grotesque in my opinion but he is so happy with it and good luck to him. Same as the latest must have '56' - some of the shots of these perched on a skinny wrist look strange to say the least imo but if the owner is happy then so be it.

    Enjoy your 2900!

    Casio G-7710
