    Confused Casio G-Shock GW-7900RD-4ER screws/rivets falling out?

    Hello folks,

I haven't been on here for months and I've decided to get a G-Shock in addition to my tritium watch that I own. I'm really into red watches since I'm in the medical field and think it would match. I'm looking at the GW-7900RD-4ER, really eying it and think I'll be getting it. But one question, I heard people having problems with the rivets/screws falling out? Is that really true? I really don't want to get it if they will fall out as it just ruins the looks of the watch. I want a solid G-Shock preferably with negative display. I'm not only planning to use it at work, but also when going on vacations. Swimming with it, rock climbing, etc. Maybe somebody could point me in the correct direction? Don't want to be spending more than 200 bucks. But again, I really want that GW7900, just want to be sure about the screw problem. Here are a few pictures of it :

Yes, it's true that some people had the screws fall out of the GW-7900 models -- but didn't they used to use metal Torx-looking screws rather than the plastic ones that the watch in the picture above seems to have? If so, it sounds as though someone at Casio finally got smart!

Here are a few of the threads I found on the subject of "7900 screws" in just a few minutes of searching:

If you really like the GW-7900, though, just get it and be proactive as mentioned in some of those threads -- IF you notice a screw that feels loose, take the bezel off, take the screws out and put a bit of glue in the hole before replacing the screw!

The GW7900RD-4 has plastic rivets so they aren't prone to falling off unlike the metal rivets on the solar and solar atomic 7900's.

See the metal rivets on the left and the plastic rivets on the RD-4 on the right below.

Thanks for the clarity. I was wondering the same thing. Will be using Loctite if I ever get my hands on one with metal rivets. I personally prefer the look of metal rivets.
