Cool Casio, please bring back the Duro 200 / Marlins!

Especially the Marlins Illuminator MDV-102, and the probably the best Casio ana-digi of all time, MDV-700!

Yes, I know there's still the MDV-106 around, but it's analog only. Yes, I am aware of the new illuminator series MTD-1079 ( https://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/the...l-2191817.html ), but it's 100m WR only and can't match the build quality of the MDV-102. Here I am borrowing some older member's posts for illustration purpose. (Click the quote link for more pictures in the original post.)

So what do you think? I know I want them back!

You can see the beautifully etched Marlin logos on the back pix.

This is a out of production MDV-700-2AV, I bought it a new old stock for $84. The bracelet is one of the best I got. Its solid thick and not the usual cheap bracelet Casio will provide for their affordable models.

In terms of function, it has all the thing I look for , rotating bezel with lume pearl, hand and hr marker dial with lume too,the hands are not too big to block the reading of the digital display, WR200m , illuminating light, 24hrs countdown, 24hrs timer, Dual time, alarms, 10 yrs battery life, tidal graph and moon chart. It has already exceed my expectation.

MDV-700 lume and illume pics from the web:

And, here's a sub-topic, looking at the specs of the MDV-700 (see below), you have to wonder why can't Casio make ana-digi's with similar specs these days?

    MDV-700:
    - Full metal case
    - 200m WR
    - good lume include a lume dot on bezel
    - bright LEDs on 3 and 9 o'clock positions
    - 24 hours stopwatch
    - 24 hours timer!
    - Tide graph and Moon phase
    - 10 year battery!

Yes, it has no world time, and the hands are not self adjust to the digital time (sync seconds only), but still with all these features and under $100 when released, it's just incredible! In comparison, for examples: we have today the GA1100 (>$150 at release) with only 60min stopwatch / 60min timer; the PRG550 (>$200 at release) with also only 60min stopwatch / 60min timer; PRW-6000 (>$400 at release) with only 60min timer; and the new Mudmaster GWG-1000 (>$500 at release) with also 60min timer. You gotta wonder why can't they just make them with a tad bit long timer at that those price points!

I am not familiar with these watches, but I just checked on eBay and there were a couple of MDV-303Ds for sale. Screwback, appears to be full metal and 200m. Analog only though.

I would love to have an MDV-102 to wear as my dressy watch.

Forgot to mention, the MDV-700 was likely released as early as 2006. The MDV-102 was likely released as early as 2005. If they could make those a decade ago, they can certainly make them again. Makes you wonder even more, why there are brand new watches 9 years later still with 60min or 100min timer, and for some even a 60min stopwatch.

I would certainly love a nice diver from Casio with that marlin fish on the dial, a rival to Seiko SKX series... and with the direction casio is going lately, all analog, there could be a chance of something happening lol

There're some mixed up of the "MTD-1048" model, it's actually MTD-1043 for the submariner replica. The MTD-1048 is actually an illuminator, just like the MDV-102. Whoever the owner of that picture, did an honest mixed up between the number "3" and "8", which is humanly easy to do. Here's member Yankeexpress' old post from the interesting "https://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/qua...e-1351537.html" thread, using the same picture with a link to the original source. He too continued the mixed up number.

The post is from the interesting "https://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/my-...on-489655.html" thread, which basically identified most, if not all, Casio divers watches ever produced. He also pointed out another MDV-102 illuminator variant, the MTD-1049. The MTD-1048 is the white face version of the MTD-1049. He also pointed out other Casio submariner lookalikes as well.

A variant of the MDV 102, the very nice and rarely seen MTD 1049

    MTD 1010

    MTD 1037

    MTD 1043

I guess once upon a time, there was a Casio replica for whatever famous name brand model watch you could name. But some of the Casio divers were original designs and of good quality, the MDV / Duro 200 / Marlins were no doubt the best among those. Too bad when these watches were out, I wasn't really into collecting watches.
