    How cheap are we talking?
What kind of biking? Will he be biking on some sort of mountain terrain or on tarmac?

I suspect a lot of ppl will suggest the 9300 mud man. But if $200 is too much, try the rally 9010 mudman. Its solar atomic, I think they made a non atomic solar one (correct if I'm wrong). Its still a mudman, I think it can be found cheaper than a 9300, and I think its got multiple timers which could be useful.

    Whats cheap? $100? $200?

If he's a biker, whats the color of his bike? Is he wearing something special when riding? I was thinking that maybe he wants to have the same colors?!

Some of my favorites in the "bang for the buck" area are the GX-56KG-3, GX-56GB-1 and finally GX-56-1AER

same city as me, so atomic watches are out of the question..

check watchkart and flipkart, show it to your dad, see if he likes anything. They have most models on display, so you can get an idea of what each model looks like.

I would suggest a simple DW-5600E. Easy to use, cheap, and easily replaceable if he loses it or damages it on the bike. Non-WIS folks are unlikely to appreciate the same watches as we WIS's. Plus, if you bought him a $200 G-Shock, he might be afraid to wear it for fear of messing it up.

    Good luck with the decision.

+1 on the 5600E. Plus it would fit easier underneath his gloves.

do you mean bicycle or motorcycle? I use to strap my dw5600e to my handlebars and it worked great, plus its only 40 bucks on amazon. +1 for dw5600e

How I would love to go off for two weeks at a time on my bike each month, can't remember the last time we had two weeks worth of good weather in the uk.

How about gd100 or G8900 both pretty cheap and similar size to 9300....
