Picture Checking out if I set my G-Shock right ;-) (no movie icon?)

It's pretty quiet here on the lab. Most students finished their Personal Experiments and now it's waiting for the new Profile Experiments. I took a bunch (33) G-Shock's with me, so I could set them in a free hour. I needed only 1 battery to refresh. You got to pay attention a lot to how you set your watch (some were many minutes fast, since it is over 1 year I did set my watches).

I ended just a fw minutes before 13:00, so I thought I should make a movie of the hour signal, just for fun. For me the big beep is a conformation I have set the watch on the right minute. Here's the movie:

    Cheers,

    Sjors

P.S. I have not the right Flash player on this computer, but I assume the movie is viewable on most computers.

    Hi Michindy,

These were "only" 33 G-Shock's and a GW-9000 Mudman as reference. I believe it took me 45 minutes (some were pretty screwed up after a year) to set them and to replace a battery.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

Do you replace your own batteries?

Very cool movie! It was like a rain burst of sound. You have very quick fingers to be able to set them that well.

(I can see it on my computer obviously - I'm using firefox and Windows XP Home edition).

Did you happen to record the time variations between the different Gs? It would be interesting to see the accuracy over a year - assuming that they were all set consistently last year. Also, what did you use as the standard to set the watches to?

Sorry for all of the questions....just a former lab science teacher's brain...:-D

    Hi Norm,

Do you mean you are a sort of colleague of Solar G-Shocker and me I actually don't have that fast fingers. I only can set maximal 2 watches at the same time, but since several models were very far off, it means that it takes about 1 minute average to set a watch (the DW-003TL is the easiest, I have several and the setting allows to reverse the parameter).

I started at 19:30 tonight and just finished at 21:50 now. I finished all my wearers (I have to change about 15 batteries now). So I answered Michindi's question. Yep I replace most of my batteries. I'm now about at the half of my collection and have to replace about 20 batteries now. If I have to sent them away it will cost me around €160,-! I can't afford that, so I do it myself. Only my very prescious models will be serviced at my local service centre.

I didn't record the time differences, but there were very good ones and very bad ones.

I have a blue MTG-520 Neon, that I saw you took a NEON light picture from. I think that one was the most accurate! Only 4 seconds off in one year!!! The Maroon version was 2 minutes off....

    Cheers,

    Sjors

    Hello Sjors,
It's excercises like that, that offer the rare moments, that I don't actually envy your collection . I think tough solar and wave-ceptor must be a god-send for you.
