    Color fading after 2 months?

Little bit of the lighter layer (top layer) came off, it was streachable. Is it like a sticker?

I would imagine it was a layer of paint, the paint would have been “stretchy” as I think that the paint used would have had a high level of plasticiser added to make it stretchy and more durable given it needs to be flexible to adhere to the resin case.
This is why I tend to steer clear of the painted models as the paint will wear off on all high wear areas such as corners etc, but I would be a bit disappointed if it only lasted a month or two.

I wasn't aware that any Casio watches were painted. I always assumed that the colour of the resin was actually impregnated with a dye, that on some models would eventually fade, but not simply lift of? The only 'colour' G Shock I own is yellow, and it's as perfect as the day it came out of the box 6 years ago...

You’ll find painted straps and bezels in many GLS models, most Gs, as you suggest are clothed in resin that has been dyed to the final colour, but a lot, mainly glossy finished models are painted usually over a similar coloured resin as can be seen on the OP’s photos.
A lot of people consider the wear as a patina, something that adds character, but I, being a perfectionist, like to keep the watch looking as close to its new condition as possible over my ownership period.

I hit my green Rangeman bezel accidentally and got a white mark in the resin. I tried to clean it, but it is there to stay.

I'm pretty mad about it, since I've hit other G-Shocks in the past and I just got a mark, not a change of color.

Let's face it, G-Shocks are not what they used to be. That's why I mostly collect vintage models. : (

    Cheers,

    G.

Indeed you are right - they use to be all black with no colour!

Crikey, well, when I bought my 1st G Shock, a DW5200, in 1984, they were definitely all black LOL

Re: Color fading after 2 months?

From what I recall, there are some cases where the resin is completely cast in a specific color. But in some cases there is a coating applied on top of that to achieve a very specific aesthetic (like a slight shimmer or metallic effect). In those cases, the coating can come off.

You will see this most notably on many white resin G-Shock watches. As the white layer wears off, a more "off white" or beige resin color emerges from underneath. It's unfortunate, but I think CASIO isn't very concerned about this. After all, you can easily replace resin if need be. And the bezel is more often the part that gets worn down, rather than the strap.

Same experience with a sand 6900 and a red 7900.
Changed to black bezel and ftom that day, only black Gs for me.
It s a pity, but I cannot live with a watch with edges shading or losing color, no way at all
