    Comparing GWR-B1000 GravityMaster to MTG-B1000

Iíve seen interest on the forums in comparing the MTG-B1000 to the GWR-B1000. I ordered both to see which one I wanted.

    Thoughts on GWR-B1000
    Pros

    • Uses a newer, more advanced module
      • Dedicated light button
        • For MTG you canít use the light in stopwatch or Timer mode

      • Beeps sound on stopwatch and timer operations. Beeps are good.
      • Bigger, less clutter dials are easier to see

    • Modern, lighter, simpler construction.
      • Light = more comfortable
      • More rust resistance

    • More scratch resistance: From what Iíve read carbon wears pretty good
    • Better strap: Carbon fibre should make it last longer

    Cons

    • Exposed textured crown mildly irritates the back of my hand
    • Questionable strap connection: looks like plastic parts connecting the strap to the watch.. doesnít look high quality.
    • Kinda looks like a toy.. especially compared to the MTG. While the white hour markers make it easier to see the time in the dark, itís lacking sophistication.

    Thoughts on the MTG-B1000

    Pros

    • Was this really the first Carbon Guard Core? Since its core guard is made of carbon?
    • More solid construction: itís heavier but everything feels solid.
    • Gorgeous. In person itís smaller and looks better than the photos.

    Cons

    • Smaller, cluttered dial can make it harder to see things like stopwatch timeís minutes.
    • Concerns about scratches, especially with IP coating. I do a lot of outdoor activities and have already destroy some of my old g shocks (rangeman 9400 being the latest casualty.. strap is cracking off).

    Conclusion
On paper the GWR-B1000 is a better watch. Easier to see, better functionality, more modern materials, more scratch resistance, overall more comfortable. But compared to the MTG the GWR just looks like a toy while the MTG looks like jewelry. The MTG looks gorgeous and sophisticated. It brings out the lust and almost makes you forget all its short coming. So Iím leaning towards the MTG.

You see no pictures in my post?
Photobucket decided to lock my pics behind a 40$/month prescription service.
I used their services since 2009 so the most of my old threads have Photobucket pics inside.
If you stumble across one of those threads and want to see the pic, PM me and i will re-attach it.
What can we learn from all the lost information?
    1. never trust cloud services

When a guy with the handle sixty9 says a watch brings out the lust, I feel like I can trust his assessment. Haha.

Nice review! What is your wrist size for reference?

Completely agree with you, and more... It's a bit of a risky and disproportionate comparison, but it's also spontaneous for me to do it.

Only difference is carbon dial and colour scheme.

MTG for smart/casual, GWR for sport/leisure.
For me the GWR uses interesting modern materials is much lighter and more comfortable.
MTG is a solid and heavy which doesn't fit a resin band.

    Welcome to the forum!

Are you sure, that the MTG-B1000 has a carbon core? I think all MT-G are resin in between steel.

The color is not the element of this hardware comparison

Carbon resin case, but I don't think so important in intermediate and not so structural component...
The reinforced resin was introduced by Garmin in monocoque Fenix.... I think...

    Thank you!

ĄThe resin of the center case is also reinforced with carbon fibers, ...ď. From Casio.com

Does anybody know what this means?
