Curse you guys! Just pulled the trigger - GW9000A...

Ugh - I could not resist any longer and my desire for a countdown timer and all digital solar/atomic watch has lead me to the atomic Mudman - and it's all this forums fault!

Seriously I'm not sure I would have considered that model but after the almost 100% favorable reviews/opinions here and pictures of the size (i.e. it's not as big and doesn't wear as big as it looks) and looking at a lot of other models, I finally gave in - I love the look and while the 5 eyes aren't necessarily ideal use of dial space - I am pretty sure I can live without the day of the week in exchange for the accuracy of the atomic/solar features and the addition of a countdown timer, even if it is a limited one...

I'll post pics when it arrives. Of course, I had to pony up for the 2 day shipping option just so I could get it earlier - once I decide to buy I have very little patience it seems!

Still - I'm now putting a self imposed limit - no new watches! (I'd gone for more than 2 years without buying one.... )

More like 50:50 I would have thought, but maybe I have a selective memory.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Or perhaps I have selective reading!

Actually, the best part of this forum is that issues are discussed and brought out - certainly the tabs on the bottom, the 5 eye dial configuration and the 60 minute versus 24 hour timer were all discussed and documented, with many preferring the non atomic versions (and other issues too for that matter)... the benefit to this forum is that with full knowledge I was able to consider the alternatives, options and limits and decide which model was the best fit and what limitations I could accept. I've determined that "time memo" is a deal breaker, right now at least, for me, for example.

It's a watch a lot more people will come to appreciate when its vanished from the supply chain to be replaced by the ghastly ("it's a fake!") GW-9010.

As I've said before, love it or hate it, it's one of the few truly iconic Gs of recent years. I predict GW-9000s changing hands for a premium, two or three years down the line.

The GW9010 was one reason I went ahead and got the 9000 - much prefer it's looks, even if they aren't perfect or ideal for everyone! Just something about that new model... it just doesn't speak to me...

FWIW I've never had a whole lot of use for the 3 dials on my 6900, I know they are more functional theoretically than the 5 dials on the 9000A (since I'm not likely to be in Japan any time soon...) but I have a seconds readout so I don't think I've ever added up the little dial black marks to figure out seconds, or 1/10s or whatever. But it is a classic and enduring design and while I'm a newbie at all this GShock stuff it does have a certain classic design look to it (the 9000 that is) or does to me at least!
