Off topic A Day In Doncaster (UK)

I took the kids across town today to Sandall Park, but we stopped by Doncaster market first to buy a frisbee. This is what we were met with in the market square. The pics were taken with my W200i so they're not very good.

First, a knight in chain mail on a horse

    Next, a public hanging?

I guess it's some zero tolerance on shoplifting inititive.

And to leave the post on a cheery note, our feathered friends from the park.

That building is the Corn Exchange, a very old, historic building that was badly damaged in a fire some years ago. They've done a great job of restoring it. And yes, I think that's a dummy being hanged

Stop reminding me about the poncho, you know my kids made me disgard it and I miss it so so much.

Those are some nice shots, reminds me of the movies where everyones in the crowds throwing stuff at the one being hanged except with paved roads instead of the old dirt roads

I would loove to check out Europe one day. Im lucky where I live Im pretty close to where a lot of historical battles took place with George Washington (seems he slept in a whole lot of places in NJ) and a lot of nice landmarks in driving distance, Philly, parts of Trenton, Freehold, Gettysburg is one of my favorites, you could actually feel the history over there....But there is some old history I would love to check out in Europe, and one day I would love to check out Israel.

I ought to have looked you up m8, was in Doncaster last week on the boat, we had a week off and you can't get that far in a week

Stayed at Barnby Dun for a night, Strawberry Island (a marina on Wheatley Hall Road) with friends for a night, then on through sunny Doncaster, past the prison and on to Sprotbrough for a night

They seem to have done lots of work behind the new college/university, where the sea cadets were, do you know if they're opening a new marina??

Forgot to take many pictures, though here's one of canal side Sprotbrough..

And my 'WIS Spot' after one week of wearing my frog in the sun

hanging him is just too easy !!!!!!
we need to stab him, let him recover and then stab him some more and repeat the whole process till the Huskers win the championship

I'm not sure what they're building there, I'll try and find out.

Sprotboro' falls is beautiful. I used to spend a lot of time on the nature reserve round there. I'm glad you posted that, it's given me an idea for my next outing with the kids.

**Edit** I forgot to mention an important fact, I was wearing my G-9000 Mudman today. I can confirm it is frisbee and duck-resistant.

History, you do not have the corner on history. Where I live it was dessert and sagebrush until about 65 years ago, then sprang up a town. Hows that for old! All you have is buildings and churches that go back to the 1200's.

    Harumph!

Really, I want to go back to the UK. Nice people great history!
