Confused Deciding between a few G-shocks and I need some advice

So I'm looking at finally diving into the realm of G-shocks and I'm trying to decide on my first one so any help would be appreciated. I'm currently looking at a few different models the: GD-400MB-1, GD-100, G(R)-8900 ( both the solar and non solar options), and the GA-700. The GA -700 while I love the look am not a fan of the crummy back lighting, unless owners can persuade me differently this is the bottom of my list. Ideally I'm looking for a great and sturdy watch to wear hunting, camping, on the water, etc. Needs: good backlight, low maintenance, countdown timer.

    Top picks are below
    GD-100-1b
    GD-400MB-1
    GR-8900A-1
    G-8900a-1
    GA-700-1A
    GA-700-1B

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Also while I love the look of the negative display, if the read ability is as bad as people are saying I'm very much ok with going with the positive screen versions of each watch.

Also since I'm new here it won't allow me to post links or pictures. I'll try back later for that.

You might look at the GD-350-1B. It has the best negative display among inexpensive Gs. It's far more readable in moderate to dim light than the negative display in the GD-100-1B. The GD-350 also has a vibe alarm, and the digits/characters on the display are larger than average.

+1 for the Rangeman 9400. Sunrise/sunset info and compass/barometer could be helpful in hunting/camping situations.

The 9400 is a heck of a watch but I can’t get on with the -ve display that came with my green so I just had to get the +ve black model.

I've looked at the 9400 and it's a killer watch. Just can't justify the 300 price tag for a watch I plan on beating on regularly. I think my max is 150

9400 should be found below 200 new. Retail price is for suckers.
