    Decisions decisions... MTG vs MRG

I was at the G-shock store today to try on the new MTG and MRG GPS models.

I was surprised to see they had the Basel MTG-G1000BS for $1900. The MRG with the black bezel and silver bracelet was $2600.

I have to say the MRG is really impressive. It's light and the build quality seems super high.

I did notice the crown was wobbly as others have pointed out but I believe the suspicions are correct that it's probably for shock absorption. The 24 min timer is really silly, but other than those two "features" it seems like a great watch.

On the other hand the limited nature of the BS seems appealing but the size is quite large.

Given how close the prices any thoughts on which one to get?
    Thanks!

ive liked the mtgs for a long time but its way out of my budget for what it is. that said, i like the BS for that steampunk look but would prob prefer the V model for a bit more reserved look... BUT given the choice between that and the mrg id pick the mrg every time, not just because it has a light ;) (and gps)

MTG with a light and GPS....make the choice harder to choose...

I was comparing the new MTG-G1000D side by side. By external design, I think I prefer the MTG. It looks tough.

Both MTG-G1000BS and MRG are far outside my price range. If you are ok with the price for either of them, it's then mostly your call.

I did recently buy a MTG-G1000D though with a good deal (I think). For me it's simple since MRG has never been on my radar, for the price and I think MTG looks a bit more classy. MTG is pretty large and heavy, and some members have expressed they went for MRG due to MTG being too large for them. If that is your concern as well, maybe MRG will work out better for you as well.

I have just recently gotten back into the GShock line after a few years of dabbling in Swiss made stuff....
I purchased the MT-G because I wanted the "classy" look of stainless...wears much lighter than any of my swiss autos did....albeit a little taller than most but that largest Breitlings I owned. Purchasing a Rangeman today after work....I'm leaning towards Black lately, not sure what is going on with me.

That being said, the MT-G was my choice....pictured below...although I wish I had held out for the one pictured above. Just couldn't find it locally or on the forums anywhere and had to have a new watch NOW!

I don't think you can go wrong with either to be honest...although my thoughts are a little skewed since I don't mind laying out the money for the higher priced watches...I don't mean to sound like an ass...it's all relative yes? Now I'm going to drop the same kind of money and end up w/ many more pieces for my money and who knows where I'll be in a year.

I went with the MRG due to its smaller size and lighter weight (titanium), which suits my smaller wrist better. The other consideration I had is the fact that the MRG is made out of metal and sapphire crystal with no exposed plastic component, and I don't want the niggling worry about resin rot on such an expensive watch 10-20 years down the track, as I plan on holding onto this watch

Thanks all... I think I'm going to try for a MRG. I had the Basel non GPS MTG and I loved it but it was a bit heavy.

What's odd is that the MRGs seem to be quite scarce. I called AZFineTime and they only have one and offer zero discounts.

I see them in eBay around $2K used so will try for one of those.

    Thanks all!

I think the MRGs are produced in limited quantity each month, hence the more limited supply. I was in the soho G-Shock store 2 weeks ago and they had one, so I guess if you look around, they can definitely be found

If money is not an issue.........I will go with MRG. It simply outclasses any other Casio (IMO). It is a watch to be held on to..........
    Good luck!

    Oh it's so awesome!

I haven't tested out the gps function but I love the titanium weight and they did a great job polishing it and not making it feel too dull.

If anyone knows how to disable the beep when switching between modes That would be great.
Still trying to figure out how to set the alarm! The Manual is so vague.
