    Did I miss the boat?

It seems like a lot of gizmonic and very cool colorful digital G-Shocks have come and gone. Like, maybe, most of them. Casio appears to be moving on. The pre-smartwatch era, filled with crazy cool gizmo functions (morse code - I love the morse code thing), was followed by collaborations and wacky color schemes that seem to be fewer and farther between for their digital watch lines. Now, Casio looks to be moving on to analog and hybrids; giving them all the cool colors while leaving the digitals to flounder in the "been there done that, it's discontinued" ether of overpriced Ebay auctions. Now, it could be that I'm just seeing things through the lens of years gone by in that all those cool color schemes took a decade or more to accumulate; I'm just able to see them all at one time as opposed to waiting every quarter or so for the past decade or so.

Or, maybe I really did miss the boat.
A man wearing a watch, outside of purely social functions (where, strictly speaking, a watch is not supposed to be worn), makes it clear to everyone in his purview that they are in the presence of a man who considers his time something of value, not something to be wasted.

Compile a short list of your desires and keep an eye on watchrecon and eBay. They usually all appear eventually.

And those that escape can be corralled by other means. Like a blind PM with a fair offer to a WRUW photo of a special piece, like I did with this one:

I'm talking new releases. I've waded through the Ebay mire of colorful discontinued $700 watches that originally retailed for $110 or less. Heck, the Captain America I asked about (the "real" one you pointed out) in another thread can't be found anymore for retail, much less "street price".

I don't know if you missed the boat completely, but it is telling that the "special" color scheme for the 35th anniversary line is matte black...

Unless you were buying G's since 1983 yes you've missed the boat hundreds (thousands?) of times. No matter, the old used boats still make deliveries on occasion. With one exception all my G's were attained from the latter, and they all aren't overpriced. The ebay boat isn't the only game in town either.

No, not really. It is not THE 35th Anniversary line of watches. It is A series of 35th Anniversary watches -- there are sure to be others... (and you can bet they won't all be black)

There is a new edition of Neon G Shocks out just a week or so ago. Straps, too.

Plenty of colorful watches on the market now, the GAX line includes jellies.

Here's a start: "Act now, quantities are limited."
