Difference between DW-8200B-9A and the DW-8200BU-9AT

    Hi All,

I have read about the differences between the 2 in one of the other threads, however it would be much easier if someone could post some pics comparing the 2. I have looked on the official g-shock web page and tried comparing the pics, for some reason the differences are not that visible.

For example i can't seem to see a difference in the shading of black on that titanium ring.

Is there a difference in their logo when the light is on?

I hope one of you guys could help me out, just want to get a visual of the difference.

Many thnx, sorry for using so many words for a simple thing. Just sooooo drunk.

Re: Difference between DW-8200B-9A and the DW-8200BU-9AT

Sorry for missing this thread. As I am now not at home and have no time to select the pics, I will do it later. Based on my memory, below are some points for your quick reference:

    1) Caseback
8200BU marked with '99 Frogman' showing that it was reissued in 1999.
The serial number of 8200BU and 8200B is started with 9 and 5 respectively.

    2) Front dial
The golden colour of the logo 'Shock Resist' on 8200BU is like yellow while 8200B is like silver.

    3) EL backlight
8200BU has 99 logo at the left bottom corner.

    4) Golden Ring at the front dial
The golden colour of 8200B is more shiny.
Digital display inside the ring: 8200BU is darker

    5) The letter 'Titanium' on the front ring
8200B has a bigger front size and the ring colour is more shiny

    6) Strap
8200BU has '99' letter and the strap is harder to bend.

Hope this can be of help.

Re: Difference between DW-8200B-9A and the DW-8200BU-9AT

Here comes my old pics for side by side comparison in another forum.

Front dial (the upper is 8200BU and the lower is 8200B). Check points: EL backlight ('99' on the left corner of 8200BU), golden ring (8200B is more shiny)

Front dial (the left is 8200B and the right is 8200BU). Check points: 'Titanium' letter (8200B has thicker font), 'Shock Resist' letter (8200B is a mix of golden and silver while 8200BU is golden and yellow), black ring (8200B is darker and more shiny).

Lower part of front dial (the left is 8200BU and the right is 8200B). Check point: The letter 'Japan O' (The letter 'O' under 'ALARM' is exactly located between two legs of the letter 'R' on 8200B while it is offset a bit on 8200BU)

Bezel (the left is 8200B and the right is 8200BU). Check point: the golden decoration bolt (the one on 8200B is about 5mm higher than the bezel).

Front dial (the upper is 8200B and the lower is 8200BU). Check point: LCD inside the golden ring (8200B is similar to the other LCD area while 8200BU is in light green).

Caseback (the upper is 8200B and the lower is 8200BU). Check points: Serial number (8200B started with 5 and 8200BU started with 9), printing ('99 Frogman' marked on 8200BU).

Band (the upper is 8200BU and the lower is 8200B). Check point: flexibility (the 8200B is more flexible).

If you can understand Chinese, please see the below link for more information. I have learnt much from him:

    http://www.watchbus.com/modules.php?...=asc&highlight=

There are actually more than 10 points to identify if it is a customized 8200B or a real one.

    Cheers,
