    Question Difference in Raysman module 1583 vs. 1803

    Hey guys, I was hoping someone could enlighten me on this - Is there any difference in the Raysman DW-9300 modules 1803 vs. 1583? I realize the 1583 module was in the first model Raysman, but what about the 1803? Also, how does a Raysman with the 1803 compare to a Raysman w/ 1583 in terms of price? Thanks!!

    I'm more familiar with the 1583/1584 and though I don't have the other kind in front of me at the moment, I think it's the one used in some special models and has a single "eye" display to show the power level vs. the little battery symbol on the 1583 ones. The rest should be the same as fo the functions. If I'm incorrect someone please let me know as most of my collection is not with me right now. I also know that some do not display Kanji characters while others do. The 1583 does I do know that (also along with English characters)

    Hope this heps!

    Thanks Kevin...I just did a search on our forum here and I came across a post from sometime back that basically discussed which model Raysman have the 1803, 1583, or 1584 modules. Supports I believe everything you just told me, plus. Also, do any of the Raysman models come with world time feature??

    I don't think any of the Rays have thw WT feaure. Maybe if they update the Raysman, that'l be one of the additions. Would be nice to have the full line of Master of G updated.

    That's too bad...it would definitely inure to Casio's benefit to update the Master's series, taking all the things that made those watches superior and sought after and fixing the "little" things that would make them worthy of re-release and production. Oddly enough, the G2300 (and 2310) have the same features as the Raysman module 1803, with the addition of world time. From the responses of many members here, that watch is simply awesome. :gold May have to pick one up!

    The only difference between 1583 and 1803 is that the 1583 module supports the Japanese Katakana (not Kanji) characters in Telememo Mode. The 1803 module doesn't.

    Is there any real significant difference in the price of either, especially in terms of "vintageness," nostaligia or rarity?

    Depends on who you ask. Personally, I don't care if it's 1803 or 1583... hell, I think 1803 might be better than the 1583 if you do use the Telememo.

    In the 1583 module, cycling through the characters in ORDER gives you something like:

    Around 46 Katakana characters --> 26 English characters --> numbers

    So if you wanted to use the letter A, you'd have to scroll backwards through the numbers, and then from Z to A. (Or you could cycle forwards, through all the Katakana, which takes longer.)

    Now, if you had the 1803 module... it's simple, since all it has is...

    A-Z --> numbers

    Trust me, mine has the 1583 and it's annoying when I do add another telememo entry :-X

    Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. BTW, is the telememo function on the G2300/2310 series similar to that in the 1803 module? I would assume it would be, since there are no Katakana characters to deal with there either.
