    Digits Dieing - Help/Advice

Help my dial is dieing on my watch, I thought it was a battery issue so tried to have it changed today but I've been told its more serious than that.

Its as if parts of the LCD are breaking down but its not that, I'm sure.

Anyone have an opinion and advice?

As my wife said to me earlier "I thought these watches were bomb proof", prove her right.

Pictures of the lcd would be great. Yes sometimes the lcd will go bad over time. Do the lcd digits look faded or does it look like someone took an etch a sketch and broke it and then poured the black stuff into one corner? If its the first scenario then the lcd is just going bad. If it's the second one, then some how the lcd was cracked.

I'll try and take and post some photos tomorrow but not faded, "chunks" of digits are missing so a down stroke of the 5 is missing for example. The whole display is effected.

Missing segments are usually a problem with the zebra connector which connects the lcd to the circuit board. It is not a simple fix unless you have experience working on the modules and swapping lcds, but it usually only happens to very old watches.

    Magic. ;)

Did you by chance have an AC reset done when you changed the battery? Sometimes that'll get it going again. :)

Poor connection is my guess. But I don't know for sure. Sometimes you just press on the bottom or top of the lcd and they come back briefly which makes me think it is a connection issue.

Thanks Guys, battery wasn't changed as the chap spotted that it was more serious than that before taking the back off.

I emailed Casio last night I'll see what their suggestion is.
