    Disappointed in GW-5000 strap

Hi. I have a GW-M5610BC but I have never been sure if the combi bracelet truly represents what G Shocks are supposed to be like... So I decided to order a GW-5000 replacement strap from an online seller since the general opinion seems to be that this is the version to go for, that the premium square’s strap is also premium and miles ahead of the normal GW-M5610 resin strap.

But once I got the strap...I was really disappointed. The strap is NOWHERE near the quality of something like a Bonetto Cinturini, a Hirsch or an Isofrane rubber strap that you can buy for a ”normal” watch. If the GW-5000 strap really is superior to the other G Shock straps, it is still very, very far from real rubber straps.

I am willing to give another chance though since these bands are so cheap. Please recommend me a seller whos straps are 100 % genuine Casio GW-5000 straps and there is no chance of fakes.

PacParts sells real GW-5000 straps, but they don't have any in stock at the moment.

I put a GW-5000 strap on one of my two GLX-5600-1. This strap is far more flexible and comfortable than a typical G resin strap.

You cannot seriously compare a GW-5000 strap to an Isofrane - a strap costing $100 or more, when you can get a GW5K strap for $30-35 or so. The same is probably true of the other two straps you mentioned. Apples and oranges.

The GW-5000 strap IS much better than the normal straps found on g-shock square watches. But that's as far as the comparison should go.

You are going down a dark road. You are trying to turn the G-shock into something it's not.

Maybe it's better just to enjoy the watch as it is. Otherwise, you are wasting a lot of time and money.

The GW-5000 strap is outstanding. However, it will be of a slightly different shade than your 5610 bezel, and the 5000 bezel will not fit the 5610. Just get a GW-5000 is my advice. If you don't like the 5000, as with all good G models, the secondary market will take it off your hands for a very good price.

Absolutely right. GW5k strap is better than 5610 stock but don't even try to compare with a natural rubber strap.

Yeah, because the normal resin strap is so uncomfortable.

I'm amazed at the number of people on here who claim a watch is uncomfortable; it's a remark that is made pretty frequently on this forum.

I've had dozens of watches ranging from heavy steel bracelet divers, down to lightweight rubber G-shocks, and never have I thought one was even remotely uncomfortable. You guys have some seriously delicate wrists if you genuinely find the standard resin strap uncomfortable.

Next you'll be telling me you take your watch off at night!

I don't have a gw5000 strap but just received a g5600 and am blown away how much softer and more comfortable it is over my g2900 strap ,I would have thought all cheaper g shock straps are made from the same material but they are not .

Sounds like you're worried that you got some sort of fake or inferior version of that strap.

The GW-5000 strap is nothing special. It's supposed to be a repro of the original strap, but in something more flexible and comfortable. It'll be a bit softer, but slim and low-profile. It's quite understated, as is part of the appeal on the what is considered the premium standard-bearer for the G-Shock series.
When there is doubt, there is no doubt.

I guess that's exactly it. I was expecting more so I thought I might have received a fake.

But still, I have come to the conclusion that I want my square on a strap and not the combi bracelet, so I just better get used to it.
