    Display fade question

I recently scored a mint DW 6600 Fox Fire but I have a question on the display. When I look at the display straight on, it's nice and clear:

When I look at it from a low angle (bottom to top), it's still very readable:

When I look at it from a top down angle, the display fades right away & can't be read:

My question is: is this normal? Is it time to replaced the polarizing film? Any suggestions? Thanks for any input from the experts.

    Re: Display fade question

I just looked at all my DW6600s - all 6 of them, one of which is in mint condition, and one of them the gold version, all exhibit the same behavior as you described.

I am no expert by any means, but I think that is normal as designed though, when the watch is on your wrist, you would only read it from those visible angles (from bottom up to full-on view), I cannot imagine anyone having enough flexibility or would want to twist their forearm that much to read from top down.

P.S. In fact, I just looked at all my G-Shocks, all of them have varying limited visibility (or total blankness) from past 5-10 degrees from the vertical.

    As Marcus said:
LCDs are designed to have a optimal viewing angle.
So from bottom left should be optimized, otjher viewing angles may suffer from that.

So there is nothing wrong with your vintage G!

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if this was normal or not. It's good to know that everything is as it should be. Back to enjoying it!

    Re: Display fade question

I had few, now only have one, and all of them, faded a some positions, from seeing that from all, I supposed that's normal!
