Hoard spares yes, but I don’t consider the dozens of watches I have as hoarding as much as being too lazy to get around to listing them for sale someplace.

Unfortunately i'm a habitual flipper. If I see something I want, I'll flip a piece to get the funds for it.....or at least some of the funding. In a vain attempt to keep my CFO (read wife) happy, I have followed her one in, one out rule....or at least tried to.

I collect. I have never flipped/sold or otherwise got rid of a watch. If a watch isn't getting wrist time, its gets packed up and stored.

For example both my SARB033 and SARB035 are in storage, not cuz I don't love 'em, I do, but they wear small on 7.75 wrist and I just wasn't wearing them. I could never get rid of them either.

I say I collect, but I suppose I hoard when it comes to watches. I'll let the kids sort it out when I am gone.

I don't buy into the sentimentality of watch collecting. I like watches, but they're just man jewelery. My memories are my memories and watches are just things. I didn't hang on to the underwear I wore when my kids were born or the watches. I don't worry about passing any on to my kids, I have 4 and I'm kidding myself if I think any of them will give 2 flying f's about watches.

Sometimes I don't like a watch as much as I thought I would, or my taste changes, or I just get bored of a watch and off it goes. Some have stuck around longer than others, some have been around a long time, but I never label them as keepers, you never know. I don't force it, if my enjoyment comes from new watches, then I get new watches and kick the old ones to the curb.

I don't "flip" just to switch for a new one. But most I will get tired of after awhile and I don't want the clutter.

I suppose I'm a chronic flipper. I like to keep a minimal collection and feel I'm trying to "upgrade" all the time. It's a sickness...

I stopped collecting because I hoard. I feel I have enough, but like to browse.

After 16 years of collecting Pulsar LED (Time Computer) watches, I have come to realize that I have a fondness for certain models. I have sold quite a few stainless steel and goldfilled ones, but never anything in solid gold...here is the result. Still, as hoarding goes, one could do worse...
