Well, I don't make a habit of it, but I did put a G3010 through a full wasing machine cycle, then shot it with an air rifle. I don't much care for G3010's though. ;-) A 5ft drop shouldn't hurt one, I think they're designed to survive a 10 metre drop.
yup! tossed my g7600 to the floor about 5 times now, since I got it a week ago. It gets tempting after the 1st "test" hehehe
btw, lex as promised here is a picture of my g7600 sorry about the picture quality took it using my cellphone only.
actually this model really looks waaay better in the flesh. somehow the "3 dimensionality" of the watch just doesn't show on pictures ..don't know why.

Other than the display, it shares the bezel and strap of the GW002 which I have, and find amazingly comfortable. I assume the G7600 also has the covering around the case back, which adds to it's comfort.
My old DW-8700 has been abused on purpose when I was young and stupid. I mean it does say shock resist on it, right? Dropped it off a balcony. Bang it on walls. Work on cars. Now days, I use it at the pool as "treasure" that when I throw it, my daughter has to swim down and get it. And you know what...it still resists shock!
As for the rest in my collection. Now that I buy them with my OWN money, I just trust that Casio wouldn't lie to us about the whole shock resist thing.
Not at all... Although I used to throw my vintage 5700 to the floor just to show off my friends how tough it was. But, hey, I was only 19...... I still own that 5700 with NOS bezel and strap. It now enjoys a deserved retirement.
Yet, life is a tough sport already, isn't it?
Thats exactly what I was thinking :-d I like the fact that they are shock and water resistant JUST IN CASE something happens during the normal wear and tear, but I never intentionally test it's limits.
I get a little dust on the crystal, and instinctively start wiping it off. Or when I get that first mark on a bezel, I am all, "Crap! I should have taken a photo of it when it was still new...."
Yeh, I have to agree with most of you. If I am paying I am not abusing on purpose. I do however enjoy watching video of others wrecking theirs!!:-d:-d:-d:-d:-d:-d:-d Geode
After seeing most of Buzzbait's youtube master pieces, I have to say that he should work for Casio as part of the Quality Assurance Team. I have a high level of respect for fearless people.
BTW does Casio actually test every single unit for shock resistance or they just do a random sampling for tests?
just a little drop, from time to time.
and that's when i'm trying to impress a possible g-shock buyer, so i guess that should count as advertising, and not as abuse... :-!
Maybe its time for G shocks to have some kind of G force meter mounted, that can log the number of times and the G forces that you have subjected your G shock to.
Ofcourse they are going to be fellas that will try and out drop all others.
I remember someout showed a G shock or Casio with a punch meter. I wonder if that is still around.
