Question Does muting the Riseman save the solar powered battery?

Is that why they put that feature on the Riseman?
The MTG is retired and the 5600 too. Right now, the only working G-Shocks that I use and enjoy are the Riseman GW9200-1 and the GW6900-1

If I can own a Rolex Submariner I would. I know they are tough too, their homages are tough. Trust me.

    G-Shock MTG930DA-8V, G-Shock GW-5600J-1. G-Shock Riseman GW9200-1, G-Shock GW6900-1

This feature is on many G-Shocks. I think its main purpose was to make it possible to use the watch's features without annoying people around you with beeps. I used it in exams at university a lot. It will of course also save battery power and one additional side-effect is that the backlight stays on while changing modes.

Yes muting the watch can save the battery but the feature hasn't been created exclusively for that purpose.

any function on any watch that can be disabled will help to preserve battery power - solar powered or not.
