    DQD-120B-8AEF Wave Ceptor Clock

    Not a G-Shock but.....

I received one of these today from an Amazon UK seller (£15.90 delivered) and I have been pleasantly surprised.

    Nice features :
The reception is dual band (Anthorn/Mainflingen) and the clock uses whichever signal is stronger.
One thing that surprised me is that the clock updates with the signal every hour !
A wave ceptor antenna icon appears when at least one receive operation is successful during the day and an "ok" symbol appears under the antenna icon if the last hourly receive operation was successful.

The backlight is provided by a yellow LED on the left centre of the display and it works well.

You can effectively choose your home town within Europe by selecting GMT 0, +1, +2 or +3 on the time setting mode. Daylight Saving Time is calculated automatically.

The contrast of the display can be selected from any of 16 levels !

The display shows time, month, date, day of the week and temperature. However when the alarm is turned on, the month and date are replaced by the time that the alarm is set for.

The temperature can be displayed in Fahrenheit or Celsius and pressing the max/min button on the clock will cycle through current temp, max temp recorded since midnight, min temp recorded since midnight

An hourly "chime" signal can be selected, but won't chime between midnight and 0600. This is a bit of a weird feature . The signal is LOUD .. and like to be asleep before midnight.. and after 0600!!

Overall, a great Casio product, at a great price!!

    Countdown timer?
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

    Hi Steve,

Tht looks like a good alarm clock for a good price. I have bought 2 Cresta clock's recently. They don't receive the signal from Mainflingen as my G-Shock's, but they receive. Unfortunately no thermometer. But what would you expect from a €9.- clock.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

    Just saw something interesting.
Similar stuff for Japan and nearby regions.

    original thread:
http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=168&t=436170 (sorry but it's in chinese...)

    radio controlled, thermometer,...etc.
However this one is shock-resistant, something between Sjors & VanDamage's GQ-200 and the above non-G, wave receiving alarm clock. According to the original author this babe is powerful enough to wakeup everyone in the neighberhood.

(An old thread about GQ-200 https://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=62868)
