I know this is not a G, but I've always wanted on of these. It's a great watch. Sellers pic.

What on earth is the symbol top right meant to represent - a swimmer harpooned through the head?
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Ha, ha! That's funny and one way to look at it. It's his snorkel, but I like you view of it

    I hope you get a DW-1000.
Indeed, a great watch is this DW-1000!

I've had mine since I was in Junior High School in 1983 or 1984.
I used it hard for about 4 or 5 years.
It took a beating from sports to lawn mowing chores, and survived very well.
Always on, and I hardly ever thought about being "nice" to it.
Although, in general I'm pretty kind to my wares.
I considered it nearly a G-Shock when compared to my best friend's DW-5600C-- of which I was rather envious.

I'm gearing up to replace the dead BR2020/CR2020 battery and get a new watch band in my DW-1000.
The original battery lasted until just a few years ago-- granted I stopped wearing the watch when I got into High School-- when I got my first Casio DataBank calculator watch. So the DW-1000 sat in a desk drawer/box/ziplock bag for a couple of decades!

Here are a couple of pics of my DW-1000.

This is my dw1000, I was able to snag a new case/crystal assembly about 2yrs. ago. I tried recently to find another one but they don't exist any longer. (bummer)

    Aloha,

Bought mine from a store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan about the same time. Battery finally went dead (I think it's the original) maybe a year and a half ago. I have to do the same thing, replace the battery and get a new strap, and it's like new again. Here's mine on a NATO strap:

    Hello All,
Can I just echo those sentiments and any expressed here. A great watch, one that endeared Casio to me.A real beater. I had mounted mine on a generic "elasticised" metal bracelet I purchased at some flea-market (anyone familiar with this type of bracelet?). Not very stylish, but a great fit.

Truely a classic watch, and as Leon said, a keeper.

It's funny, I owned a Casio with a metal case and plastic "bezel"; now it's a Casio with a plastic case and metal bezel.:-D

These photos make me miss it more.

A new battery and new official Casio brand resin band, and my DW-1000 is working great. This new band is so much better! It hinges properly now at the connecting pin to the case. The previous 3rd party band was too thick near the case and would bind and not flex correctly.

Here are some pictures of my revived DW-1000.
Thanks to all for the help in pointing me toward getting it fixed up and working again. I'm very pleased with the result.

    Great !
Nice shots with the different functions.
    It's good for another 25 years ! :-D

Here is a link (I found browsing through WUS) to the 1984 casio catalog page with the DW-1000 : http://hometown.aol.de/hk8328/84-14.html

Also, on the previous page of this catalog, you can see the DW-2000 (solar and with 5 alarms !), and the G-Shocks of the year : DW-5200C and WW-5100C.

Does anybody have a DW-2000 to show ?

    lau
