    Dw-290

Are there any other fans of this no-frills, tough, non-G Casio?

I was looking at pictures of them next to the 6900. It truly is "no frills." The 6900 just looked kind of childish in comparison.

I'm a tough guy who demands a tough watch.

A fine choice I must say... this model is no longer in production and as far as I'm concern it's one of the unsung heroes of G...

Still, a supprising choice, most non frills members here stick to "tried, tested and true..." 5600.

The only thing that I would personally worry about is that the battery might be close to en end since, again, it hasn't been produced in quite some time. Battery change is indeed a concern on any 200m watch since regular watch repair shop will likley destroy it's water proffness.

But than again for 35 US how can you go wrong?

It's hard to top the 5600.

Are you sure about it being out of production? Wal-Mart has been selling it strongly for years.

Is the DW-290 really a G-Shock? Casio's website doesn't list it under the G-Shock line, and mentions nothing about shock resistance. There has been one staring at me (from the Walmart display case) for years now. Every time I see it, I say to myself, "I wish Casio would make a G-Shock that looked like that". Very no-nonsense design and muscular look. Nice and big too.

No, it's not a G-Shock. It has a solid, all plastic case, instead of the rubber case of G-Shocks.

    Confused Re: Dw-290

Haven't I seen this module not earlier in a DW-8XXX model?

    Cheers,

    Well done Sjors.:thanks

I bought this watch around 11 years ago before I knew G Shocks existed.

    It still works today.

No, but I bet if you torture-tested this one side-by-side with a standard G it would survive just fine. Come to think of it...
