Right there with you. I bet the W-740 your oldest kid had for years is better built than the 291.

    Re: DW-291 Counting Thread

DW-291 looks stunning on pictures and in real.

However when I had put it on my wrist, the spell broke.

It is poorly balanced on my hand. Feels surprisingly heavy (for 63 grams) and awkward.

The glass is sticking outside, so I was afraid not to damage it.

In Poland regular price of DW-291 is 68 EUR.
I managed to buy it for 49 EUR.
I know it is cheaper in Spain, but I wanted to have it asap.
You can get new DW-5600 for 52 EUR or GD-100 for 64 EUR.

IMHO those two are far superior watches.

W-740 feels more solid than DW-291 indeed...

Exactly! In US Amazon it’s $36 for DW291 vs $42 for DW5600. I’d take 5600 any day of the week.

Arrived today. Not disappointed. My only "moan and niggle" (to quote Jody of JOMW) is I wish the hourly chime was a little louder.

I just ordered the red DW-291H from Amazon. The price has dropped from $37 to $30 for *just* the red one. It is sold and shipping by Amazon. I was on the fence for $37.

Look how big the digits are — important if you get older (and low light)
