DW-5030C-1JR incoming, a couple of questions

I already have a GW-5000-1JF, with a scratch on the crystal (I wish Casio would use sapphire crystal on their "high-end" models, I would even pay good money to retrofit one!), so I'm wondering if it's possible to change the crystal on the square Casios as I expect that the same will eventually happen to my 5030?

Also, given the copper colored letters on the bezel I take it that there are no spare parts for it, so I won't be able to ever replace it with that kind of bezel?

    Thanks

You can try to order it from an official Casio distributor, accessories for limited / anniversary models don't show up on the Internet like regular items.

Spare crystals for the DW-5030C are available. I just got one from PacParts.com
I also bought a few bezels for the DW-5600EG, which are the same as the bezel for the DW-5030C. The bezel for the DW-5030C is discontinued, but you can still buy the DW-5600EG bezel, and as far as I can tell it is indistinguishable from the DW-5030C bezel. Shipping to Sweden might be expensive though, so maybe you have a more local Casio parts distributor that can do it for less.

Would the DW-5030C crystal also fit the GW-5000? If so I would order several crystals, as it says that crystals for the latter have been discontinued.

How can I confirm that the DW-5600EG bezel also fits the 5030?

    Thanks again!

The DW-5600EG bezels will fit the 5030

Even if the crystal of the DW-5030 would fit the GW-5000 the writing on the crystals are very different, you would not have text showing the L-M-H or the SNZ-Alarm-signal either, and the button text would also be wrong since the light button is in a different place on the watches.

Im not sure, but I assume (not sure) that the GW-M5610 crystals would fit the GW-5000 and in that case I would probably buy somthing like this crystal

The bezel fits. Do not put a DW-5030C crystal on a GW-5000. Even if it fits, the solid color graphics would mean that the solar panel will get no light. And, as postur notes, the text is in different places due to the design of the modules.

I like that crystal too, and I considered buying one for my GW-5000, but I don't like the stars at the bottom. Another watch with a similar crystal is the GW-S5600. Someday I want to buy one just for its crystal and swap with my GW-5000. I like the honeycomb border better than the cross hatch border on the GW-5000. It is a small detail, but I think it would be worth it to do the mod.

I prefer the S5600 face, too. It's a nice idea, I'd like to see you do it!

Thanks for the great info guys! I'm off to PacParts...

Is there a good thread/site about how to disassemble a square g-shock? I have the DW-5600, could I "practice" on that one, or is it different from the screwbacks?

What work are you planning to do? Bezel and caseback changes are easy. Crystal changes require a lot more work.

I was thinking about both the bezel change and the crystal replacement.
