I have this same issue with my DW-5600E and have not been able to get the bar off. I don't want to force it.

    Can someone chime in ?

The metal bar that holds the battery is like a clip. On the side of the metal bar, it attaches to a plastic clip. You need to gently unclip the side of the metal clip from the plastic that is holding it on. After you take out the old battery and you put a new battery in, you just need to clip the metal clip back on the plastic clip that holds it on. Hope that this helps.

I always use a small sewing needle to easily pop the clip loose.
Experience is what you end up with when you didn't get what you wanted.
