DW-6900 collectors....Which models do you think had the best clarity on displays?

    Hi,

    Just curious.....

I have wondered looking back at various DW-6900 models about which had the best clarity
    display wise. (Positive displays only)

I have read many agree the DW-6900MC many used for mods such as Buzzbait's had an awesome display
beautiful clarity & for some reason very crisp
But also this model is no longer an easy find model + it is a 1289 & would be nice to now stick with 3230's

So for the last few months I have been looking at others & making a short list
The only others I have seen that come close are the DW-6900HM-1 & the DW-6900SD-8 (have not seen SD-8 in person)

Both have that white or slight cream background without tinting etc. Unless you know of a tinted model that retained great clarity

Will attach pics of all three mentioned above so you can comment if you know of other models possessing
    these traits.

No negatives, mirrors needed while very nice & I own a couple mirrors they just cannot compete in this
type of clarity. Some tint is ok & I do own the DW-6900E which has a bluish tint but I am curious mainly in what others think
can compete with the DW-6900MC type of clarity

Here are the 3 mentioned above..Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions

The SD-8...I should also say I have not seen this one in person & some pics look as though it may have a slight tint

The white rasta 6900 with the gold display had a very crisp and clear display. It looks good on black resin especially.

Yes your right & I was going to mention that in another thread where folks have a hard time finding those Rasta's

I was going to say that the SD-8 (judging from pics) might be a inexpensive counterpart to the harder to find Rasta
Because ...again going by pics only...they seem close in may ways just difference in gold vs white lettering on glass stripe & faceplate
But if a SD-8 was dressed in rasta resin I think it would be very close if you painted the G gold & maybe even change the glass if you wanted
But that tint would be lacking

PS: That Rasta looks like same display as the 6930c-1 30th anniversary model too

the DW6900MT - MEDICOM has a lovely clear display.

however this is a stock pic. Other than this Medicom, all the others pictured above have basically, dark, monotone faceplates which allows greater visual contrast with the LCD - so there could be a "trick of the eye" happening as well.

    Hi Kev

That SC-7 model is often for sale here in parts as some like this or that part off it.

As for the module/Display I have not seen one yet in person ...is it mirror like the MF-2 etc or regular?
If regular your right quite clear in this pic you have here

I am starting to notice a trend though
The China made DW's like the HM-1 & the SD-8 share certain display characteristics...
Then some nice clear tinted ones like the 6930c-1 also China made.

Do you happen to have a SD-8? If so...Is it a tinted display or same as the HM-1

I am thinking of grabbing one as only a few seem to be about & I found a couple in Japan I think

    Thanks

great minds etc...on my list also. I have the GA-100SD which is also super crisp. I'm not super keen on the sand color but the module is so nice and I have plenty of spare resin.

edit: the 6900sc-7 is a standard lcd. This shot was taken in indoor lighting - much better in outside natural light.

Yes that SG-2 is very nice & again there is that same China Made Module...Very nice
Very Clear...I had wondered if it was polished as the back light looks negative right?
Usually that means a mirror or polished dial

I even tried to get that faceplate awhile back as it is hard to find a white one that is not restricted sales
But this SG-2 is also restricted heavily on parts sales.

    Thanks

I agree about resin & this model has a lot of potential as it mixes some great neutral colors
