    Dw-8400 - the philippines

I currently work nights and normally sleep the day off when I get home but just 2 days ago, when I got to the house at around 9am my wife asked me if I wanted to tag along and head to one of the local department stores since she intended to shop for some home furnishings.... she blackmailed me along the way and said that lunch was on her and that I get to pick which resto as well..

Well this time.. she got more than what she bargained for....

After lunch, as we strolled around the store.... I saw something that just blew me away. ....of all the places....

I found this baby. So it's lunch plus a DW-8400..

    This made my day.

Thanks for looking... but yeah, I know..I know.. the shots are kinda poor.
    best regards,

    Kirk M.

I'm amazed that you actually managed to find such a rare watch in the stores.

    Wear it in good health
No one ever works out and regrets it. You never go for a run, and then when you're finished, wish you would have stayed home. You never climb a mountain, get to the top, and say, "I should have just been content to stay where I was."

Brother!!! - one of a kind, mate

International version of the DW-8400 Mudman is a very rare beast these days, indeed.

You should clean the underside of the crystal (glass) though, the watch will get a whole new dimension, believe me :) The plastic insert under the glass is actually black, not gray...the grey effect is caused by a misty deposit layer on the underside of the glass that seems to form over the years on these models.
Let me know if you need any tips, I've done this on most of my DW-8400/8500 Mudmans.

cheers and wear it in good health!

    What a find!
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

    Hi Kirk,

Who would expect to find this model while going out for a lunch! A great classic model. Congratulations!

    Cheers,

congrats on the find and the purchase!

I am kinda bias to the 6900 and have always looked at the 8400 as the "BIG" brother of the 1289 modules.

anyway, how much "$" did it set you back... the 8400 is hard to find in New Condition... most for sale are Like New or worn because of the soft rubber bezel can be banged up easily if not cared for while wearing.

and.... yes, I have noticed that "foggy" situation on many of the 8400. maybe just open and clean, put some silicon on the gasket. Then give it a warm bath to see if it still fogs up.

    later,
    southpaw

Thanks Southpaw. Even without its box, it still felt like I got it cheaper than I initially thought it would be...

It went for 4000 Philippine pesos or around $100 u.s.

    ..thanks for the tip mate!

    Salamat brad!

I found it at an "old" 1980-ish dept store here in Cebu!

    It only went for 4k.
