    DW5600 - I'm a believer!

I've been into and out of G-Shocks for a couple years now. My one model that has remained constant is my G7900.

I have never even put on a 5600 series because it is so tiny. Then a couple of days ago I found a DW5600EG-9 on Ebay for dirt cheap. At this point, I figured, why not? If I don't like it, it will be a very easy flip.

It arrived today. I woke up shortly after it arrived (I work 3rd shift) due to nature's call. I set it and slapped it on then went back to bed.

OMG is is ever comfortable. I forget that I'm wearing it. Also my eyes are not the best, so if I can read it upon waking, then it will have passed both tests.

I actually woke a couple minutes before my alarm and checked the time via backlight. I can read it without my glasses! My mind is blown!

I have since ordered the DW5600E and GWM5610. I am also unloading my other G models because I won't wear them now.

The 5600EG-9 is a very nice model, indeed! I really like the different color scheme it has compared to the standard 5600E. Congrats!

Not sure if you know this or not, but the light will stay on for as long as you press the light button.... For this reason I usually wear one of the 5600s to bed so that I can see the time in the middle of the night if needed.

The "EG" stands for Excellent Gshock :) Lucky for you and your newly found appreciation for squares there is a huge catalog of squares to choose from.

I think I'm going to watch for the DW5600 MS & BB to be at a low price to snag them too.

I own a dozen of the dw5600eg G-Shocks, but all of mine are made in Thailand. I got them all brand new back in the early and mid 2000's for around $34 to $38 each from Amazon and from Jomashop.

    I bought a DW5600E a few weeks back. It's all I've worn since.

    There's just something about it.

I've got a number of 5600's in different guises. It's such a comfortable, lightweight watch, and I too was a naysayer because I thought they looked too small.

    Re: DW5600 - I'm a believer!

I gave the DW-5600E a few tries, but it always fails for me, due to the buttons. They are too small, too recessed, I simply can't use them the way I want. This might not be a big deal or even something to consider for some, but for others - like me - that make frequently use of timer and stopwatch, it is a dealbreaker. The module however is good, for Casio standards even exceptional because the DW-5600 is one of the very models, that can show the current time in stw and cdt mode and -even better - the timer can be adjusted to the second, has a duration of 24hours and can repeat at end. I think only a handful G's is capable of that, it is usually an "either, or" decision. Also the indefinetly backlight duration is very nice to have and again, maybe a handful G's can do that.

All in all the DW-5600 is quite a great watch but to operate the pushers is a pain in the ass. Fortunately, there is also the DW-290, technically not exactly a G, but very close, with an even more unique look, pretty much the same module and functions, buttons that actually can be used without cursing and an even better price tag (and it has a black buckle, that I much prefer over the silver polished one).

    cheers
