    DW5600E ready for an update?

I think the DW5600E will be updated inside of 12 months. Or more accurately the module will be updated because I think the case design is a classic

    Some reasons:

    1. Introduced in 1996 - been quite some time since last update of venerable 5600 product line.
    2. Calendar only until 2029. The watch, if purchased now, will likely outlast the calendar and it needs to be extended
    3. I don't think the current solar/atomic 5600 models will become the standard - while these are great, Casio still needs an entry level (<$60) 5600 styled model.
    4. Available for $30 on amazon! Maybe they are cleaning out inventory?

Things I'd like to see in the next version:

    1. World time.
    2. Longer battery life! Let's bring back the 10/10/10 concept
    3. Multiple alarms

    thoughts?

Well the GW5600J atomic solar model has world time, multiple alarms, and since it's solar, I'm sure the battery will last at least ten years, and this model is $62.50 on Amazon! I have it and love it. Only thing is, and this isn't an issue for me because I live in the U.S., is that the atomic sync only works in U.S. and Japan. I'm sure there are those of you that need multiband 5 or 6, but personnly, living in the U.S. , I don't have any need for it.

they should release a dw-5600e with screwback, st. steel case, dual time and 3 alarms (1 qith snooz) and keep the rest like it is. affordable for the man on the street. maximum 99 euro.

Re: DW5600E ready for an update?

I beleive the DW5600E calendar goes until 2039. The DW5600C,'s predecesser to the DW5600E, calendar went to 2029.

Although I would also like an update to the DW5600E, I don't think it going to happen. Casio sells millions of DW5600E's just the way it is so why change it. Also, there is more money to be made in a special model DW5600E screwback so why make it a standard model.

    Just my humble opinion.

Re: DW5600E ready for an update?

    Hi

I'm all up for an update, Yes I agree with screwback 10 year battery and a snooze alarm. World time would be a bonus.

While the 5600e is a great cheap G, with mine I always wished it was a 5600c

I love the 10 year concept, solar is not what I want on a very basic G, perhaps they could release a 5600c reissue but I feel this would be an expensive collectors piece and not a G for use.

Looks like It's back to the bay to search for a good condition speed.

    Regards

    Matt

Isn't the GW5600J already an updated version of any 5600?

Re: DW5600E ready for an update?

agree with the other posters... the 5600E will always be available as an affordable G for the masses... it's a low cost entry model. I guess it would not be too difficult to update the calendar to go beyond 2029 or 2039.

The current plethora of 5600 variants e.g. solar, atomic, moonphase, 25th anniversary, eric haze, spike lee, etc could be deemed as upgrades, albeit limited runs for some.

I can't see the DW-5600E ever changing. And a good thing too. Icons should be left alone (cf. the Rolex Sub and Omega Speedy Pro).

Re: DW5600E ready for an update?

I think in Casios eyes the GW-M5600 is already the upgrade for the 5600E.
So hopefully they will not discontinue the 5600E....
