Are DW5700/DW5750 bezels compatible with DW5735?

I understand the compatibility of the bezels between the more popular G-Shock squares. However, I am curious about the bezel compatibility of their round 5700 series cousins.

Does anyone have any experience trying to fit the bezels on the "lesser" 5700 models (those with the 4 screw backplates) onto the metal screwback DW5735?

The original DW5735 bezels are difficult to source. I'd simply like to know if bezels from the non screwback 5700s would fit the 5735 correctly.

    Cheers!

I would doubt it. If they're anything like the 5600 bezels then they will be different sizes.

I'm talking in basics here as there's many 5600 models with differing bezels just in that model range.

But if you take the 5600E and the 5600C for example, the 5600E bezel won't fit the screwback watch at all, the button placements are different and mainly the two are different depths because of the difference in backplates. I think I'm right in saying that the 5600E bezel is deeper?

Based on that I'd say you'll have the same problems with the 5700/5735.

I installed the 5750 bezel on my DW-5700D, a screwback from 20 years ago, it fits perfectly. So as long as the DW-5735 has the same case as the DW-5700D, which is likely, you're in business.

    This is a confusing thread.

Assuming that you’re talking about a modern 5750 <-> 5735 bezel swap, I think they should fit.

My understanding was that the metal cases of the new screwbacks are compatible with the bezels from the modern squares such as DW-5600E.

Sodamonkey seems to be answering the question of whether a 5735 bezel would be compatible with a classic 1980s 5700 screwback, which I agree would be very surprising.

...so I’m surprised that Veracruz is saying that he did exactly that, and that it fit nicely.

I have a DW-5600C screwback with an original bezel, and the oldschool screwback is smaller than the new one to a pretty meaningful extent, something like 2mm or 1.5mm measuring from left to right.

I probably shouldn't have mentioned squares. I just meant that I understand that the subtle differences in case size/shape between watches such as the DW5600E, GWM5610 and GW5000 etc, make bezel swaps between squares unworkable unless you get it right. (I often rely on the bezel, backpanel and strap compatibility chart for squares that was posted on the forum.)

What I am unsure of is if a similar situation exists with "rounds".

I have a DW5735D-1B. I'd like to get backup bezels for it. Acquiring a proper DW5735D-1B bezel is difficult, considering that they are listed as a "Restricted Part" on PacParts.com.

Veracruz, I'd like to think that you have answered my question. Bezels for the DW5700BBM-1 and DW5750E-1B (for example) are readily available on PacParts.com. Assuming those recent 5700 models have the same case size/shape as the DW5735D-1B, I should be good to go. That is my hope anyway.

But, if anyone has actually successfully swapped bezels between the recent screwback 5700s (DW5735D-1B) and one of the recent non-screwback 5700s (DW5700BBM-1, DW5750E-1B etc...) I'd be pleased to know.

    Cheers!

It should be noted that the DW-5700D was one of the first with the 1545 module (concurrent with the DW-5700-1JF I believe), which, as we know, continues to serve until today almost unchanged as the 3229/3421, and Casio has never changed the case dimensions for this line. There are earlier 5700 screwbacks, including those with the 901 module, which are not compatible with the current resin - much the same like the DW-5600C cannot take any modern 5600 resin.

That clears it up! I was not aware of the DW-5700D screwback.

It’s a pity that these have become restricted. Owners of genuine anniversary edition screwbacks really should be able to replace the resin. Hopefully they will introduce a formal program for this.
