    Dw9052-1v battery

i just got myself a new g shock about 3 days ago and i noticed in the manual it said that the battery (cr2016) had about a 2 year charge if you used the backlight 3.5 seconds per day and the alarm 20 seconds a day. is that completely accurate?

Casio is notorious for underestimating their watches' battery life.

A lot of people around here routinely get four or five years out of a "normal, two year" battery in models like the DW-9052, DW-5600E, and DW-6900. My DW-5600E lasted about five years on its first battery and about five on the second.

A few people around here have gotten ten years or more out of a battery when the watch was sitting in a drawer and thus not using the alarm and/or backlight.

Mine probably AVERAGED that over the life of each battery. For months at a time it was my daily wearer for work, so I'd use the backlight and the alarm multiple times per day. Other times the watch would sit on my dresser for a couple of weeks before it got back into action.

Your watch is still new, which means you have plenty of time to read the threads and/or watch the videos in the "Articles and Tutorials" section about how to change your own battery, OR plenty of time to find a reputable place to get the battery changed when it eventually needs it.

Is the battery changed the same way on a DW9052 as it is on a DW5600?

More or less. Doesn't the DW9052 have "wings" under the straps? If so, they may need to be removed to provide access to the back of the watch. Then it's just a matter of removing the back of the watch, opening the battery retainer clip, replacing the battery, performing an AC reset, and closing the watch back up, much like a DW5600E.

Edit: see this thread as well: https://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/bat...ch-218311.html

The DW9052 has "standoffs" or "wings" or whatever Casio wants to call those extraneous parts, but after those are removed the battery replacement is pretty much like any other G-Shock.

Personally I say get rid of the caseback protectors (wings). It makes the 9052 much much more comfortable.
