Earthwatch Rangeman Live Shot Looks Quite Different

...From the Clement Wong supplied catalog shot that starscream posted here a short while back.

I just came across this site while searching for live shots of the ProTrek PRW-6000Y-1. I found those pictures alright, but, the big surprise was this (first ever?) understated Earthwatch collab Rangeman. Gone are the flamboyant, multi-color schemes we're so accustomed to seeing in the annual Earthwatch iterations. Instead, we have this military-stealth, mostly monochromatic (but with a two-tone display) version of Rangeman which suits the model to a tee.

Although I had written off another Rangeman purchase due to its unwieldy, impractical dimensions, this one might be hard to resist.

    Photo from BizMakoto.jp

Google-translated caption reads: Collaboration model G-SHOCK EARTHWATCH and environmental groups "GW-9400KJ-8JR" is the base model, I adopt the color of dark gray featuring "Asian arowana" has been designated as endangered species

"Asian arowana", whatever it might be, is to be thanked for inspiring the befittingly subtle coloring of this Rangeman. Can't wait to see more of it.

Here's the link to the entire article which has all sorts of new model shots. ProTrek shots are on page 2, by the way.

This is the only model I am interested in of the new releases. I think it is not going to be quite as dark as the photo suggests. I think the photo just has poor lighting.

Here is the same photo lightened a little:

Interesting that the one in the photo has Tough solar on the strap , where you would usually expect to see Carbon Fiber on a Japanese model.?

^Yeah, I know, I had taken that darkness into account. I think the real color falls in between your rework and the original, probably something very similar to the gray GD350. Right up my alley, I tell ya!

I like it. I might have to splurge on another Rangeman.

Light or dark, with this pic, it will definitely be hard to resist this one. I too had written it off from the leaked images, but this looks very nice now. Funny how my G purchase strategy is constantly evolving - this one suddenly bubbles up and replaces something else!

One thing I do notice is the strap says "Tough Solar" instead of "Carbon Fibre" so that means this version of the Rangeman probably won't have the CF insert as an option. Interesting... will that make it a cheaper JDM price? Probably not...

great find! it's the same preview event at Casio HQ.. the other website attended (カシオ2014年春夏の時計新製品発表会 G-SHOCK」編 - "真の強さを追い求めるG"「GULFMASTER」 披露! (1) ニューコンセプトの新顔は「GULFMASTER | 家電 | マイナビニュース ) but they never took pics of the Rangeman..

now I wonder which other websites were invited for this event.. there might be more pics floating around.

Very interesting 2-tone screen. Red, not orange font.

Two-tone LCD is indeed very interesting, they should defenetly use it more.

I must admit, I liked the Rangeman more on the leaked official photos, just the opposite of Gulfmaster. Seems more interesting on that photos, maybe it's just lighting, we'll see...

Casio has brought 2 dissapointments last year, blizzard white series which is mainly white, not light-blue enough. And Desert sand, which also isn't sandy enough, too light. I hope this won't be the same.
