Educational question for the new guy

Since I'm one of the new guys and am like a sponge soaking up as much info as I can handle, I have a question. The model GW6900-1 solar has a black dial? but if you hold it just right the solar panel looks kinda purplish. So are all solar g shock that advertise as black dials the same way? Were if you hold it just right the color changes? And last, I assume without seeing one, that the black on the battery g shocks are actually black? Apologize for such a noob question. Eric

    Yes and yes.
Yes the solar panels give off a sort of purple tint when held at certain angles in relation to the sun light. And yes, the battery powered G's have a black watch face if the glass is painted as in the DW-5600E. The plastic sub dial, like in a DW-6900 is the color of the molded plastic which can have a very slight grey tint.

The other colored watches, white, blue, green, red, yellow, etc. all have different colored sub dials depending on what type of watch it is.

I've noticed only one slight variation in the solar cell color of one solar powered G-shock: the GW-5000. My other 5000 has a slight bluish tint compared to typical solar G-shocks.

At some Gs and on some other analog dial watches Casio and others put translucent dial covers on top of the solar cell.
In that cases you will have a different dial Color, but still no black.

    one example:

Another way used to hide the panel somewhat is a pattern printed on the Crystal (somewhat hard to see on the left and right of the LCD):
