    EL vs Microlight?

What do you guys prefer and why?

I personally like the microlight better because it seems more old school and maybe that's why the older Gshocks and the older casios interest me a lot more than the EL versions, although I own both kinds.

i presume by microlight you mean the single bulb (or led nowadays). well, at least in every analog and/or ana-digi i have seen to date, the led illumination is next to useless for me. digital watches with a bulb/led on the side are much better but still not a match for an el-backlight. so the latter is definitely what i prefer and want, and it is best when the backlight is negative illuminated (only the digits lite up).

EL. I prefer a positive LCD display with a negative backlight, i.e. black digits on grey LCD where the digits only light up on request. I prefer that to the whole background being illuminated.

EL backlight for consistent illumination. But I wouldn't mind having at least one vintage model with the old school light bulb for nostalgia.

Microlight is hard on the batteries, and wont light up the display.

The only two watches where I accept it, is in my two old Casios, and that's for nostagilcia reasons. One of them can celebrate it's 29 years birthday this summer

Old school is good, but old and not very good is bad.

    EL all the way.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...
