    Confused Embarrassing UTC Differential Question

This is a bit embarrassing for me to admit that I don't understand how to set the time on my G-Shock. Please let me explain.

    1. I live in the Eastern time zone of the United States (Pennsylvania)
So the UTC Differential is NYC -05.0

    2. We are in Daylight savings time so DTS is turned on.

    3. On the world time screen I make sure the watch has NYC displayed and DTS turned on.

    4. Then I move to the home time Screen and Set UTC to -5.0 and set the time with DTS also turned on.

Now everything should be great right? wrong :( I go back to the world time screen and its ahead by an hour. What am I doing wrong?

I know it has to be something simple. The only way I can get it wo work correctly is if I set the wrong UTC. So if I make it -4.0 instead of -5.0 everything will be correct but then the UTC is wrong, correct?

I don't quite get it. If you can forgive my ignorance and please help me out it would be appreciated.

    Thank you for your time,

    Re: Embarrassing UTC Differential Question

UTC never changes because DST doesn't apply to it. So in the fall, you're going to be UTC -5.0. In the spring it's going to be UTC -4.0

also, there are some parts in the world where there's no such thing as DST. Like much of Southeast Asia

    Re: Embarrassing UTC Differential Question

    Hi,
    I'd do it like this:
    - choose the correct citiy code
    - set time like DST was off (-1 hour)
    - turn DST on (should be in one of the sub-menus)
    -> correct time
if you take UTC -4 and set the time correctly without activating DST (indicated by a small 'DST' symbol somewhere on the display) then all the times in world time mode will be 1 hour off.

    Greetings, Sedi
    Cheers
