F1 musings, a new watch, and knee jerk defense.

So I'm picking up my first F1 tie-in watch on Sunday:

And no, i'm not a big Vettel fan but do respect his speed. I do like it when Webber gets a result because of his grittiness and determination.

I've actually been on the hunt for a watch to wear to root for Alonso this year. This year he has absolutely shown himself to be the most complete driver on the grid, watching him and his team take the fight to red bull and mclaren without ever having the fastest car has been a treasure this season! Kind of narrowed it down to 3 watches:

    gdf100

    burning red riseman

and of course the burning red frogman

My favorite driver is still Kimi. Even with 2 years out of F1, he just walks back in and "it's just the same as when i left it". When he is on, i think he's just amazing. First season back and he has 3rd locked up with an "off" team? WOW. Still haven't figured out a good watch to root him on with. Any ideas?

Do you follow F1? Do you wear specific watches to root them on with?

I only have one rule in F1, "Anyone but Alonso". Don't get me started... While watching F1 I only use one "clock", the official F1 Live Timing:

@thm: completely understood. Was never an Alonso fan (especially when he was at Renault) he won me over this season with hard work, determination, and pulling the team together. And putting the car on the podium many times the season when it had no business being there.

Ayrton, yes. Bruno (his nephew) isn't done yet.

Let me broaden this up: anyone root for MotoGP/WSB/whatever with specific watches?

Have been seriously thinking about getting this watch. I am also a big F1 fan and like the Casio/red bull tie-in.

    As for F1:
Vettel - Still young but has shown allot of maturity in the last two years and is FAST
Webber - Big fan but you have to face the fact he is a #2 Driver at the end of career
Alonso - never been a fan, reminds me of schumacher is his first career (Arrogant but Talented)
Senna (Bruno) - Carry's the family name but not much else, have trouble finding any correlation between him and his legend of an uncle.
Kimi - My #1 driver of recent times and the king of one liners! Back in F1 where he belongs but because of politics (and his previous off track reputation) i don't see him moving up to any of the tops 3 teams (again) however Lotus/Renault have produced world titles before and hope the team can provide a more consistent car for him next year.
schumacher - should have stayed retired.

Senna always said his nephew was faster than he was. Maybe he will find his groove in the next few years?

absolutely love F1 and love the Scuderia Ferrari team! any driver in their team i will root for...go Alonso!

i also do respect vettel for his outright speed and talent, and admire CASIO for doing the collab with redbull and making a good quality watch that most people can truly afford (not like the Barichello AP or the Massa Richard Mille lol)

all of your "red" watch choices are good, i say get all 3!

Geez, Motorsport is awesome, Formula 1 especially. I've prob got more F1 stuff than I have G's. Will dig out some pieces and put pics up.
Oh and Ferrari all the way. Tend to support the team more than the drivers, but Alonso has been epic this year.
I particularly liked the race when you had Schuey, Alonso, and Kimi on the podium. Best three drivers, and all raced in red at some point.

Bruno was also 11 when his Uncle passed.
He may find his groove yet ? but as we all know in F1 its sink or swim within a short time. Having a link to a very famous name compounds this greatly with more attention on your performance and added scrutiny.

I am and always be a McLaren fan, somewhat biased (or patriotic) because of Bruce McLaren's origins.
