Favorite Unsung G-Shock feature - Autolight

The first time I noticed the Autolight feature, I was in Hong Kong at night ashore from my ship, shopping for cheap watches. Hong Kong and New York are the dual capitals of cheap watches and I've been shopping for them worldwide....Hot Wheels too, but I digress...

Bought a G-Shock, put it on my wrist outside the store on a crowded sidewalk, lifted my wrist to check out my new toy and it lit up on cue! I was sold for life! This thing reads my mind, it knows when I want to see it! What a cool feature and I think nearly every Casio digital has it.

I love this feature. I mostly keep it off to preserve battery, but i toggle it on in low light conditions.

Do the same on my non-solars.

It's one of those features that I have never used, mainly because I don't want it going off unexpectedly. Does that happen with you?

I don't use it, but I agree, it's a great feature they have come up with

+1 , auto light is an excellent thing to have. I usually turn it off when not in use, except for my LED models, like awgm100b.

I also have an appreciation for flash alert as well, though it doesnt seem to be so common anymore. It was on lots of the old Casio modules though. I have it on a dw6900 and dw 290

it's nice to know/have it there, but I don't turn it on because: it drains battery and it's distraction when driving

i love the flash-alert more than auto light

I almost never use auto-el, except on a few occasions when I ride my bike at night. Honestly I wouldn't miss it at all if it wasn't there.

I like the auto EL feature too, but on a solar G like my old Riseman it's a luxury thing, in fact you can easily kill the battery in no time.

Auto light is great for lighting up those sometimes hard to see negative displays.
